Yeah but our supporters expect so much more than those following a bunch of school kids!!

Ok all joking aside, he's a potential star, all star even, but will be be allowed to express himself if all we are told about the management regime is to be believed?
Ideal for a wing half forward berth

One of the things Armagh need is a couple of on field generals who will bark out the orders and ensure that the team implements the game plan, to much individual effort at the moment.

Jarly og Burns had a cracking sigerson campaign, very calm on the ball, great fielder (especially from kickouts- exactly what we need) and scored some long range points. Think some of the criticism he has received was harsh, will be interesting to see how he develops .
He’s only young and needs time. He took one magnificent catch against Meath and then passed it straight to a meath player. But he is time and will hopefully be a fixture on our team in years to come

What are we told about the management regime?

Good interview with Jamie Clarke on the off the ball podcast

We played the 'Bridge in championship a couple of years ago and I honestly couldnt believe how mobile Burns was and the quality of his high fielding, even when contested, was phenomenal. Yes, theres a world of difference in levels but when you see someone making up 45 yards across the ground and still fielding an opposition kick out with a leap a good 2 feet above everyone you can tell they've something special about them

Well you know the chatter on here that "they are negative, don't allow players to express themselves and they must play the pattern and tow the line. Forwards must be midfielders, backs must be forwards and forwards must be goalkeepers. Goalkeepers are the only ones allowed to score and then only when the ball has been inside the 14 metre line and back to our own 65" shite!! It was a tongue in cheek comment Niall. You know me!

Naming the team later and later is odd. Match programme will be printed with a team already in it today so don't know why wouldn't name that.

Funny just last night I had a conversation with a very good friend that never misses an Ulster or Ireland rugby game and we actually talked about naming teams. He was saying that none of his friends actually ever talk about a starting team until just before the game itself and finds it amusing that we (and I include myself in this bracket) get obsessed about who is starting and who the subs are. He actually made a remark that made me think, "if you turned up at a game without the team being named beforehand for you to discuss and then you didn't like or didn't agree with the starting team wold you leave and go home?" Ehh probably not!! "Why not?" Ehh because I'm there to watch the game! "So not to see them win every time?" No but that would be good "but not essential to you going?" No I'm there for the game! "So why worry beforehand? Got me!!

I know not everybody will agree with that simply because it's something we've done for quite a while (untruth I can't remember when naming a team before a big game began or if it has always been that way), but I realised that for me - and I can only speak for me, it doesn't matter really because I'll still go even if 20 of our first 30 players were injured (feels like that all the time anyway) just because for me, it's part of my social life and part of my getting a few days out with family and good friends!

Although now it is good craic reading the "that team..........." posts.

The entire debacle around teams being named is one thing the GAA could improve upon especially for championship.
Naming your squad a few days previous and then if a player gets injured or sick and can't be replaced is nonsensical for championship and especially in an amateur game.
Whatever team is on the pitch before throw in and has a jersey that corresponds to the programme does me

Of course the starting team doesn’t make a difference as to whether you would go or not. However it’s good to have the team named then you can start playing scenarios in your head. Wonder about which of our backs will pick up the other teams star forward. Will we line out as named? We that team even line out? I enjoy the conversations surrounding the team. Maybe it’s different for your friend but rugby teams name the teams early also so I would wonder if it really is dofferent

Even the programme only goes up to number 26 and we usually send someone on number 27-30

Years ago, naming teams meant something. It doesn’t now, and I take it all with a wheelbarrow of salt.

We all know managers don’t name a definite starting team, as it would be shown to be given an insight to the opponent into who is fit and who is likely to pick up who.

Naming teams days before is all pointless. It’s time it was stopped. Let’s just show up on the day and see who actually starts the match. That’s what I do.

Is there a rule on how many subs are listed,in club championship game's you always see team's subs listed more or less than 26
