National League 2019

I’d like to see county teams limited to 30 players and each of those lads would get their number for the year. Personally I don’t care if the starting line up is 1-15 or if number 26 starts at corner back and 23 as full forward.

30 lads given their jersey for the year. Make a big deal out of it. They could/should give 1-15 to the best starting team with the sub keeper at 16 and then give the other lads their jersey more or less ranked down to 30.

No call ups during the year. 30 man team picked before the national league. Leave the Mckenna cup for managers to try players out before finalising the squad.

+\- scoring difference. At least everyone knows where they stand.

Say for example, those two Clare goals beat us by a point. If us and Clare finished on same points total, our scoring difference was +30 and Clare was -30. Clare would stay up having got a flukey win against us, even though our scoring difference was far better over the 7 games.
tonight at GAA Congress Motion 12 has been passed already by Ard Chomhairle. It seeks to establish head to head form will be used in any League element of a Championship competition. Head to head will be first and then scoring difference if more than two teams are tied.

Agree with Big Easy - if Ross McQuillan is fit, he's got to be in!!

Not confident at all about Sunday. While we are capable of winning, we simply have to show the mental strength to see the game out.

Possible storyline for Sunday - start dominant with wind / kick more wides than scores / let them back in / survive a couple of goal scares / concede 90% of our scores from reckles tackles or frees moved forward / go in half-time fairly even.
Start 2nd half excellently / cruise control / booking hotels on booking.com (free cancellation) for league final / concede couple of scores in row / get man sent off for 2nd yellow / camped-in own half - ENDING - Break up field against wind and snatch late winner... but... injury time goes on forever, they equalize. They then either kick the winner or miss their final glorious chance - draw.

Other possible storyline - start dominant / purple patch for them / take over dominance again, take chances and win fairly comfortably (with 14 men backs to wall for injury time) / book hotels for league final (free cancellation).

Hopefully the latter.

T0morrow is a massive game. It's obvious that we are very close to getting that win, with the way we've played for large parts of the Kildare, Clare and some of the Meath game. We've just got to get over the line tomorrow. If we can get that win, I think we can then target and achieve two more wins that would mean we've had a relatively good season. The disappointing results so far should drive us on against a very good Tipperary team. The team and fans have been wanting to be in Division Two for years and now we are here, we are seeing that it is a step up, that you have to take your chances and that all teams at this level can compete. We should relish the fact that we are playing good teams and enjoy seeing new teams like Tipperary and Clare, who come from traditional hurling counties, coming on and making the football scene more competitive.

Having Clarke back will make a difference. Had he played the full game against Clare I have no doubt we would have won and he would have made a huge difference against Meath. Midfield will be a big battle tomorrow as Steven O'Brien and Liam Casey are top class players that really drive that team on. Tipp have seriously good players all over the field and on their day can beat any team in this league and a few in Division One too. I'm really looking forward to the challenge tomorrow and feel that if we can win, that could be the thing that starts to turn our league around. The away game to Donegal will be a big test and the remaining home games against Fermanagh and Cork will be targeted as winnable with the right attitude and performance.
