Most fans are there for one game. GAA taking the piss charging that. Prices are already expensive enough!
And on a more serious note, I have been reading Brian Mc Avoy in the last couple of days saying that increased prices are not the main reason behind falling attendances this year. Well i would very much beg to differ sir. I know of several people- genuine gaels - who are not attending matches for that very reason. I would say also this is probably the case all over the county. To say otherwise is just burying your head in the sand, in my opinion.

Mullingar or Navan would have suited better. Bringing Armagh and Tyrone fans needlessly further South than is needed.

It's closer to Cork than Tyrone, but Cork don't get big crowds.

There is only 9 miles in the difference between mullingar and portlaoise not a big deal if you ask me. If you’re going to go to the game you’re going to go regardless where the game is.

You're absolutely right Tango with going regardless of where it is, but I don't think much of your Geography. Were you taught by thon lady from Dublin Ladies team? I'm not sure where you're travelling from, but Lurgan to Mullingar is 99 miles (shortest route). Portlaoise is 137 miles (shortest route)

Seems to be a bit of a numpty (not what I'd like to say, but hey, decency and all that). Problem with these people in their £100k a year jobs is the they have lost touch with reality. It may be nothing for them to spend £1k on a whim, but to the normal five eighth spending £50 is a compromise. Just like when Croke Park was being built, every member was asked to contribute to a stadium to be proud of that we'd all have access to. Great in theory, but try getting in there without a ticket, A very high priced ticket.

That’s good for the people that can’t go because the streaming site to put it mildly is shite and can be a good minute behind .

Nothing wrong with my Geography I’m heavily involved in the transport industrial and let me tell you the shortest route isn’t always the quickest. If i’m not traveling the length and breadth of Ireland i’m planning someone else’s route and Every time we went to mullingar this year it was by Dublin, and it’s by far the quickest route. (try it if you don’t believe me) few of the men who travel with me or I travel with them will be able to back me on that, So for me leaving newry to go to mullingar by Dublin it is 115 mile for portlaoise it’s 124 miles.

Yeah I don't doubt your credentials at all. No reason to. When you're taking the piss you don't normally worry about facts. I really don't care much for actually checking, but as it's not that long since we were in Mullingar and the discussion about which route came up then and I was lifting a few at the Carrickdale, then the Dublin route was mentioned. Funnily enough when we worked it out it was just a fraction under 20 minutes slower. Two of our friends left before us and we stopped off to do the collection, went via Ardee and Delvin and arrived quite a while before them.

By the way for what it's worth. I worked as a service engineer for almost 15 years and know every route there is on the island of Ireland. I also drove a lorry part time for over 22 years for family and route planning would be kinda important.

Like I said, taking the piss in the spirit of the banter that is on the forum. Sorry if you felt you were being belittled. Not keen on doing that to people as I'm sure you'll have seen from any of my posts..

Is it quicker by helicopter, I know a good place to park one in portlaoise.

Enough ladies, I drove to Texarkana, picked up 400 cases of Coors and was back in 28 hours. That’s legendary trucking.

And for what it’s worth the quickest road to Mullingar is through Cavan. And I couldn’t lie to you, you’re too good a man.
