Cross played some excellent football this evening, Rian O’Neill is a brilliant all round forward. I think that referee is consistent in what he does, he lets basically everything go. It made for a good game to watch I thought

Well that was unexpected. Have to say i genuinely didn’t expect that. We seem to be growing with each game and players getting a bit of form. Hard luck to Cullyhanna.
Maybe in a minority bcb but I thought Aaron Kernan was tremendous today - my man of the match with the amount of ground he covered being on so many moves from start to finish. He just goes about his job with sheer class and is a joy to watch. Almost worth the admission alone. Add in the others mentioned including the two O'Neill's and [just my opinion] it's as good a show on a football field as I've seen for a while. I really enjoyed the Keady win last night and thought that was a good advert for our games even though I thought the ref was a complete numpty. Today I left with the same opinion of the ref. The only part I know for sure he got right as it was dead straight in front of us and everyone agreed the ref got it right (including a prominent Cross man) was the Black card McKenna got. @niall1980 sadly he grabbed (sorry name escapes me) from cullyhanna and did the wrap under the arm thing bringing both of them down. He was just stupid and caught by the ref with him being only a few metres away. Now is that a black or yellow, I really am not sure, but either way he was gone when he was caught Disappointing as I like big McKenna and really rate him. Same thing for Ciaran McKeever. Ciaran should have been aware of where the ref was when he reached out and clipped his man's heels, tripping him. A stone wall black!

Ok get ready for it.........................Johnny Hanratty was brilliant. Yes he lashed out more than once and maybe could have been carded. Well alright, on balance maybe yes could have had a red card because the rule does say to strike or attempt to strike, but he was like something possessed. And I don't mean in a bad way every time. Just that when he had 5 or 6 players hanging off him, he just gave it his all to break free almost rugby like. If he can control the stupid crap he does on Twitter and roaring in the opposition's face, he is a seriously strong and committed player. It's just that 5% of him that so many love to hate!! Have a word and tell him some of us in North Armagh want to see push his team on, not from the bench!

@Calm1 would agree completely about Aaron. Thought he was excellent today and also I agree fully about Johnny Hanratty. Look I genuinely didn’t see him strike anyone, went for everything like a man possessed as you said. The thing is he is one of those players that the opposition hate but his own adore....the ovation he got coming off was something else.

We still have work to do and The Nab will fancy their chances but we have the tools to win it.

Yeah bcb maybe I'm old school and love to see gentlemen (now Johnny as a gentleman isn't an image most will recognise ) using their physicality when they've got it. He took a massive thundering shoulder and [for a change] rolled with it. maybe 30 seconds later he was back on the ball and gave a pass that could have ended in the perfect score if the player hadn't pulled the trigger so quickly - sorry again escapes me who it was. He caught the resulting kick out and laid off for a point. You can't teach that. That's in you. I'm one of those that have criticised when he acted the maggot and few disagreed that he went too far, but I genuinely believe a team is better with him. Guess a bit like Donaldson in his day. Wasn't always the favoured guy, but worth his place every time!

There was one incident with Aaron too where he was hit massively hard and ended up clearing the barrier into the stand. Jumped straight back over, went on a run and if I'm right finished a move with a score, but maybe it was the next kick out he got. Again the point being a lesser player would have went looking revenge. He just let his talent answer back.

Yes a lot of people will have Cross down now as their favourites based on that performance, but realistically, Friday's game and today's were so different. For me it's more like a chess game now for the final. Ballymacnab bring a less physical style to the table, but also are quick and free flowing mostly with a good mix of talent across the field. An intriguing final in prospect. Maybe the most intriguing in a number of years. It'll certainly be different. One sadly I will miss because of work commitments. Thankfully we have Armagh tv.

The aggression in which cross attack the ball is their biggest advantage over all teams. They will win the final and in my opinion won’t be far away come Ulster. The nab are carrying too many men, the big 3/4 players will be snuffed our like they were on Friday night. Kilcoo have a lot of men injured, Tyrone champions usually just happy to win Tyrone and don’t end up doing much, new Derry champs, big threat would be
Scotstown.

The referee today was scandalous. In fact I’d go as far as saying he was dangerous. Men where going to pick up balls and getting shouldered in the head, it was let go and then it was a free for all. The first half- he gave everything to cross. Completely bias. Cullyhanna manager irate when faloon was walking off and c Mckeever. The sending off of Mckenna- where do you even start. The first yellow he was upended and got done for diving...

Cullyhanna didn’t get the 2 young lads Duffy and mcquillan into it much. Mcwuillan started well and kicked a few scores to keep them in touch but they really needed more. Rian O’Neill is a class act.

I didn’t see that. Cheers.
Agree regarding Hanratty. Although I think he should have got a red he was superb today. As was said, opposition hate him and cross love him. I enjoy watching him play myself.
Aaron Kernan was immense. His fence hopping was right in from if me and was brilliant.

People on here must never have seen that referee before because he is always the same, only frees he gives are for over carrying or touching the ball on the ground

I don't like to critise the ref from the point of view of the losing team because it sounds like sour grapes
Cross are to be commended because they were smart enough to read him and physically walked in as they knew they would get away with it
Over the game they well deserved to win.
One thing is not an opinion but a fact. Over 66 minutes of football Cullyhanna got one free in the scoring zone. Yes one. It wasn’t that we weren't being fouled. When has that ever been seen in a game. Not often or I would say never

First of all thanks to the players and management as a major effort was made all year. I’m sure they’re all sick this evening.
Cross deserved their win. Their big players stood up to be counted. I thought Kyle Carragher, Rian O’Neill, Paul Hughes and Aaron Kernan were all outstanding. Unfortunately we had too many poor performances today and gave the ball away too cheaply at times.
The referees performance can not be ignored. As Kem says when you’re on the losing side it sounds like sour grapes but three examples of inconsistent decisions jumped out of the match to me. Ciaran McKeever got a deserved black card, Aaron Kernan clearly tripped a Cullyhanna player right in front of me and, more importantly, Bubbles. Nothing.
Ciaran McKeever was penalised in the first half for pulling off the ball in the low goals. Handy 14 yard free given to Cross. Fair enough. James Morgan repeatedly manhandling Jason Duffy in front of the top goals. Nothing.
Johnny Hanratty striking three times in quick succession. Each definite fouls, yellow card decisions minimum. Faloon gave two hop balls. Not one free to Cullyhanna

As someone said earlier it’s his ego. I think he gets a thrill out of giving decisions the exact opposite of what they should be.
In a time in our game where all out melees are hitting the headlines you’d think a referee would try and keep a lid on proceedings. This man gets a kick out of doing exactly the opposite and endangers players in the process.

Cross won’t be happy that they won’t get to beat maghrey after losing last year
Cross better team today. Always get the main men scoring

Wonder if ballymcnab have learned anything from 2011 final defeat to Crossmaglen going into the final in a lot of weeks

Managed to get to all the games over the course of the weekend and there was plenty to discuss arising from the action.

The Maghery and Nab match was quite poor fare to be honest, with neither side really deserving the victory. Both sides seemed to have mini periods of dominance, and I felt each looked as if they would go on to victory, but they failed to make their dominance count on the scoreboard. A case in point was Maghery, who I felt dominated either side of half time but could not put the Nab away. The match was therefore close throughout, and there was a feeling that whoever got the first goal was going to go through. The goal of course came for the Nab, and it was somehow in keeping with the contest that an attempt for a point fell short and was fisted to the net. It looked all up for Maghery at that stage but they rallied and I felt maybe were guilty of going for goals too early, when points might still have brought them level.

This was a game when many of the Nab's top players simply did not perform, although they won't mind that as the result is everything. For Maghery, I felt their challenge was fatally undermined by their absentees and even Cusack who played did not look fully fit to me.

The second semi-final was a much higher standard of game and much more physical in the exchanges. I thought St Pats started off well and looked to be making progress by running at the Rangers defence. However Rangers responded well taking a 6-2 lead. When St Pats scored a great goal, the gauntlet was thrown down, but it was Rangers who responded and stretched the lead to 4 point + and seemed to be able to keep St Pats at arms length thereafter.

Cross I felt deserved their victory - they seemed to be much more purposeful in possession and played a much more direct game that reaped dividends. St Pats in contrast took too many passes and ended up going back on occasions and into traffic, which was fatal with this ref.

Talking of the ref, he is well known for his willingness to let play go, but as others have suggested, there is a real danger that this can let things spill over and in a match such as yesterday, someone could get seriously hurt. I saw one or two challenges that I thought were straight red cards.

Looking ahead to the final, I feel the Nab will have to improve immeasurably if they are to win their first title, and to add to that, their big players are going to have to stand up and be counted. I'll confess though that my sense is that Rangers are too strong throughout the field, and indeed on the bench, and will simply create too many problems for the Nab.

Finally, I thought that was quite a high standard of football yesterday, and yet it was amazing to think that only one player on the pitch was available for our County team this year, and he was out injured for quite some time. I don't know the ins and outs of it all, but as an Armagh supporter I have to say that is quite frustrating. There is no doubt that we have the potential to be playing at a higher level if we had access to all our resources.

@Rufus T Firefly good to see you on Saturday and hard luck with the minor match. Thanks for the endorsement and I’m definitely not going to be making the Nab favourites but they have the ability to win it out.

In your point about the players not playing for the county it is very telling that there are lots of players on show yesterday who would improve the county team significantly. There are plenty of debates of the whys and what fors. We have plenty of players who can bring the county team to a higher level. I think it’s important to make the effort in whatever means to bring all moving the one way.

On players who were missing. I notice Connolly played for Vincent’s recently but in an article Murray’s states Jamie Clarke’s couldn’t play for cross this year as he played in the states. What’s the difference?

Didn’t Connolly play championship or do you mean that Clarke played county?

Just noticed his Instagram post also.
