A challenge game in which none of the county players played for cross.
Can't go off challenge games at all, I think where cross are weakest is the back line, and that is where errigal Ciaran are strong they have 3 county men in full forward but if they go out and attack that will play into crossmaglens hand, Ulster as always is the one to watch every county champions will be tough, intermediate I really do fancy cullyhanna although they play the winners of moy v pomeroy, Moy won all Ireland at this level a few years back and pomeroy the Ulster not long before, I feel cullyhanna will do well because they really are senior level and any other intermediate team would lose to either Tyrone team imo, Armagh at junior and intermediate level have been poor for years, is that because too many clubs or just a poor standard?

Your man grabbed Kernan’s arm as he stumbled past him. There was a far clearer one against Paul Hughes in the first half.
Kernan seemed to lead with the elbow which was the initial impression I and others around me got in the stand.

The first ball into soupy wasn’t a penalty, he was looking it - never a free out however.

My initial call at the game was charging. But then you rarely get that decision in any game. I'd like to see it again cos I just can't see how that was a black card. But, no baring on the result in my opinion... just the size of the loss.

I think there is too many clubs in each championship to be competitive in provincials. Think each championship being 12 teams and a junior b being added would improve this.
It’s a combination of both I reckon.

A Junior B would be a great idea, perhaps played earlier in the year with the winner/finalists being granted entry to Junior A. Just a thought.

Black card in second half - if you watch the video back, no 15 clearly grips AK's arm and drags him down to the ground. Stupid tackle IMO - no need in that area of the pitch. Anyhow it wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Over 3 minutes of that black card was wasted with a feigned head injury. Clear as day - when Cross scored - McPartland dropped to the ground with no one around him. This needs to be dealt with better. Ref should direct player off the field for assessment and let the game continue. In fairness he did instruct him after 2.30 minutes to go off - within 30 seconds McP was back on. If this was a suspected head injury - a proper assessment would take 5-10 minutes minimum.

As for the black card, I thought there was a far clearer one in the first half when Paul Hughes was rugby tackled to the ground when on the break. But the one that was given was for a trip/pull with the hand.
McPartland got some wack before this incident. He had been holding his head when it happened.
Also the officials letting the referee down yet again. After the first couple of minutes of the game in an incident off the ball a cross player makes contact with the clan na gael man in the face with his boot and yet he gets away with it. Yet it happened right infront of them.

Got some wack, but yet could play on for another 2 minutes. Then when the black card happened, cross got a point, he straight away dropped to his knees. If there was a concern of a head injury, he should have underwent a proper HIA, which takes longer than 30s on the sideline. Watching it back, he was refusing to go off, but the ref insisted, only for him to come straight back on in the next break of play.

Plain and simple, it was game management, but it needs to be dealt with. It took 3 minutes of the black card away.

If the incident you're referring to is the no 3 and RON, when you watch it back, you will see No 3 hit RON first. If no 3 focused on his own game rather than sledging certain Cross players about their families and personal life, maybe they may not have ran riot in the 2nd half.

You should change your name to Columbo with the new slogan "if you watch it back"

I might actually agree with you on the first incident, however the one that the black was given for clearly shows Kernan charging the man, he may well have gripping him on his way down but I believe the ref had already possibly blown the whistle.

The kick I never seen but if you are justifying a kick by saying he was hit first then you are clearly saying he kicked which is by the rules a red card.

You seem very intent on portraying the clans as villains and the Cross as saints so we will prob never agree here.

I personally think the one on Hughes was more a black than the one on kernan but in the end didn't impact the outcome, thought the ref did a decent job, it's worth saying because we are all quick to point out when they don't, on the kicking incident if that's true they both should go, that is a flaw to rians game but you could argue it makes him the player he is, other teams can target him and know he will react, but all in all I thought it was a clean game with very little dirt in it.
