I see Tony McEntee is apparently in the running for the Monaghan post - no surprise there!
everyone loves a challengeI'd be surprised he would want it. Monaghan have a huge rebuilding exercise in front of them
If Seamus McEnaney gets the Monaghan job again can't see Monaghan folks being happy with that appointment
Sure I thought they all done it freeBanty wants the job but I'm told a lot of the senior players would resist his appointment. Also told he is prepared to do it without " expenses" .

I’ve been thinking about this. What is our true potential?
Had we beaten Mayo (then Galway), we would’ve had to face Kerry and Donegal in quick succession. Could we have coped with that? And being 5/6 weeks on the go, would have stretched the panel to the absolute max.
I’m not trying to go all negative on the team, but the current structure is doing no favours to any county bar Dublin.
Im not having a dig and I cant name anyone better lol But 1 gripe I have is there is a lot of players on our squad who play at intermediate level I dont get that. Well for example when Joe Kernan came in none of us knew who Francie Bellew was and he made his debut at 27 or 28. I just think McGeeney has been very loyal to some boys and think there is men who has annoyed him for whatever reason or players have been annoyed by him and made themselves unavailable. I just think 6 years is a long time and would like to see a fresh sheet. Personally I think we only need a few tweaks. I think we could be competitive against Kerry and Donegal wouldnt have liked to been in Dublin Tyrone group though.
Plenty of our 02-05 team were from junior/Intermediate clubs. McGrane, McKeever from Ballyhegan were junior. Philip Loughran, Clady, was junior.
Plus you had TNN, Keady, Madden, Eire Og, Annaghmore. None of them were senior (although Madden were at times).
I guess what i mean is there isnt enough senior players in our squad rhats vitally important. I know you get the odd exception like soupy an that. But personally i think alot of our main players are from lower level an perhaps that maybe is because they play county an cant play club an therefore the teams go dpwn the divisions. Hard to knowShane Smyth was Annaghmore. Though he saw little game time.
It doesn’t matter what division in club football you play in, if you are good enough you are good enough.
Mc Grane, Loughran played division 3 and 4 and were great players. Ger Reid although slightly before our real peak days was another example of a fine player from the lower divisions. Paddy McKeever would have played in Junior and Intermediate with Ballyhagan. Andrew Mc Cann would have played intermediate with TNN a few times as they seemed to yoyo divisions at that time. We had a healthy mix of players from all divisions and a lot of our players plied their trade at intermediate. However this is also where a stronger panel came in to effect as the in house challenge games between the 30 on the squad where of a higher standard then than they will be now.
Generally I am positive enough about Armagh in general, but I’ve an awful feeling of one swallow doesn’t make a summer. We were ok this year and that’s as good and bad as it gets. We were naïve and lost leads against Clare and Kildare in the league. Reverted to type against Meath when on top in the league as well. We were a man up and 4 and 5 points up against Down and Cavan, both games went to extra time and one a replay we lost. Monaghan were awful this year and we put them to the sword and no one expected anything other than that. Mayo have now proved to be poor enough and we played a shadow of their former team, a team that notoriously struggles in the early qualifier rounds but gets across the line (see Fermanagh and Derry games against them over the last few years).
We play in a far stronger Division 2 next year and that is where we will truly learn our level. We are miles behind this year’s Tyrone, Donegal, Kerry and Dublin. We are behind Galway and likely Roscommon as well. We are behind Mayo. Everyone else we will give a game to on our day. Flip a coin next year, would not be surprised to see us relegated to Division 3 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us fight promotion. Ultimately I will be happy maintaining division 2 and I think we all should be at that. I think we have got carried away this year by a few half decent outings. But we have a serious amount to still do and with an older team that may not stay together. Don’t judge the Mc Kenna Cup as it means nothing, the league will be round soon enough.
I’d be quite happy to change McGeeney and I’ve never advocated a managerial change before. I don’t think we have improved in 6 years. In fact I think we are on the verge of going backwards and a kind Division 2 done us more favours than we were used to this year.
