Not knowing much about this team I watched the game looking for future talent and I wasn't disappointed. There were some really impressive performances.
The goalkeeper was excellent even though there were a few wayward kick outs. His save was actually amazing and wouldn't have been out of place in the Aviva.
In defence I thought O'Neill, McGee and O'Brien were impressive.
Our midfield was huge and any lad who makes a Grimley look small is no wimp. Grimley picked up two points along the way which isn't half bad for a big midfielder.
Attack wise I would say on a different day McKeever at FF would be your go to man but he was well marshalled and ended up further out field for most of the game with Aaron O'Neill going into FF and eventually off. I can't really say too much bad about the rest of the forwards including those who were introduced. To me they looked like a nice solid attacking unit. Surely there were a few poor passes or rash decisions but these guys are only 16/17 years old.
Obviously it is too early to read much into the team especially given the lack of preparation Derry must have had with the final 10 days ago but I certainly switched off Páirc TV a happier man.
On a side note, I was highly impressed with how the management came to terms with the game and made quick decisive changes which changed the course of the game especially in the second half. They weren't afraid to bring in plenty of fresh legs too when the game was in the melting pot. A brave decision as it could have affected the balance of the team. Well done Brendan, very refreshing to see.

I would be very surprised if the team progresses any further as the standard seemed very poor tonight from both teams and I'd say that Derry would feel they left it behind them. Neither team had a marquee forward either which most would have.
That said, you just don't know at this level and positivity is key moving forward.

I never got seeing last night's game but I did watch last years game v Derry. I thought the same after it - Derry won't go too far with that team as they struggled to beat Armagh in a poor game - how wrong was I.

You never know where Armagh could go after last night - winning a championship game at that age really does make a difference to mindset and creates momentum.

I think they have a top class management team with the two men leading it both having senior club success in Armagh. Well done everyone.

Sorry, I should have included Shane in my praise also.

Can't disagree with a lot Ref - the management were very brave and made a lot of switches which were needed and at this age level it can be hard to judge the quality level after just one game.
I saw it differently to Diarmi overall, it was very poor up to 40 mins - we were getting well beat at this stage and our excellent keeper made another fine stop to keep us in it.
A fantastic come back followed which was excellent and a super result, but if I'm being honest, I thought the overall standard of the game was poor. I really hope I'm proved wrong vs Donegal however and it's great to have another semi to look forward to.

I'm assuming Maggie Farrelly has't heard of the forward mark. That's twice she has overruled an Armagh Mark. Both outside the 45, both travelled well over 20metres and both clearly indicated the mark

Had just come on to ask the same question!

One wasn't outside the 50
The other was marginally late in putting the hand up

But the amount of handpassing from Donegal is unreal. Talk about playing to a system
Armagh doing well

Two absolute crackers too. Best I've seen at any level for a while and now she gives a yellow against the same player for arm around the neck????? This is baffling. I rated her too as a ref, but that is poor form
