Unfortunately Armaghs shooting, not winning their own kickout on the breaking ball and some poor decisions on long range free taking are showing on the scoreboard
Some good prospects there
Goalkeeper
Full back
No 4 corner back
No 5
No 9 midfield
No 11
No 14
Can't disagree with that Joe. Poor form on the night, but potential!

Scoring one point in a half is not going to be enough. The forward losing the head and getting sent off was no help.

What on earth was going through the player's mind when we got the free. A goal down, minute of normal time to go. Surely the only thing to do was lob it into the square and hope for the best. Unbelievable.

Ref is brutal

Towards the end of the match she gave a free in down in front of us, Donegal player put his head down & buried it in the Armagh player's chest, if that wasn't a clear out for charging I don't know what is. As I said to my Dad "just goes to show the women are no better refereeing than the men" :rolleyes:She gave frees to Donegal at the slightest touch & dished out yellow cards for very little, I was not impressed. As for the 2 "marks", were neither of them balls received from outside the 45?!? Those decisions seemed to knock the confidence of our forwards.

Not long home, dreadful conditions for young lads to be playing a match in but give them their due they coped well. Complete opposite to the seniors who score well but defend poorly, these lads defended well but just could not score :( They created numerous chances in the 1st half but couldn't convert them into scores. We did hit a small purple patch before half time & in truth half time came at the wrong time for us. We could & should have been going in at half time leading by 5 or 6 points which would have put us in a very good position going into the 2nd half.

The sending off & continued poor shooting led to our downfall in the 2nd half & even with that we were still in the match until the goal was scored, by that time in those conditions & a player down the legs had gone, but by god those boys worked hard throughout the entire match. They will be bitterly disappointed with the result as that was definitely a match they could have won.

She may have made bad decisions but she didn't cost Armagh the game you can't expect the ref to get every decision right in a game
Armagh had the beating of that Donegal team and to suggest the ref is responsible for their inability to put the football over the bar is ridiculous.

For sure Armagh kicked themselves out of it and ultimately only have themselves to blane but I thought the ref lacked real common sense and was generally very poor.
Dishing out yellows early on in those conditions is not the way to go and I thought she was very harsh on both teams for over-carrying. Also, on the 2nd yellow, the lad did lose his discipline but common sense refereeing would have been a word in his ear and a warning with the ball moved up for the Donegal free (these are young lads at 16/17!!). His first yellow was very harsh also. I actually commented last night on why she was bothering putting her book back in her pocket at all as she had to wrestle it back out every 2 minutes. She clearly was confused over the mark rule also. A real opportunity for a female ref to stamp her mark on the mens game missed unfortunately.

Exceptionally harsh on the ref
I hope the game can be rewatched on tg4 YouTube
From watching at the time both marks for Armagh were called correctly by the ref
Anything around the neck these days is a yellow
There is no common sense rule - they are what they are
I would like @Admin1 look at the "person" post
We've had some weird decisions in the men's games this year and not one derogatory remark of that exceptionally low standard was issued
The game was lost by numerous wides kicked in open play by players.

As I posted at the time I thought both marks were called incorrectly and I noticed that neither team played for them after that. As you say a review of the match might solve that one. It is a stupid rule anyway that should be done away with. On the second one the Armagh player would have been better off turning and going for goal.

On another note. Is the forward mark in ladies football?

The video is on the TG4 sport YouTube channel

If you watch from around 5:20 game time this is where Armagh broke up about a million passes that Donegal had and went forward
The ball went inside and then back out where the Armagh player is about 2-3yds inside the 50 when he kicks into the corner. The Armagh player claims a mark but is correctly blown up for over carrying
The 2nd mark around the 12:30 game time is, upon review, harshly called against as he was at full speed, caught the ball above his head and took about 2-3 steps to get his hand up. Seen them given and not given.

Stupid rule to reward a basic skill

A ref has to take conditions into account Joe - I disgree on that point. I also think that there has to be common sense applied to debateable tackles rather than dishing out yellows for some and not for others. Causes confusion among all present - watch the video and explain to me why some higher tackles were yellow and others not. She didn't have a good game last night but I'm sure she's a good ref (never seen any of her past games in fairness).
