The game has moved on since 2012 I doubt he’d set up so negatively nowadays. Are we really that competitive? Hard to say, Tyrone’s and Donegals form wasn’t brilliant when we came up against them, how Galway get on against Derry will provide a better yardstick to how far we’re off the best teams in the country, if they’re well beat by Derry we’re still away off the pace and conversely if they beat Derry and make a final we’re the contenders we claim to be.
Think we can over analyse results sometimes and muddy the water. Think we have to take the Tyrone and Donegal victories for what they are two good wins and performances against two division 1 teams and one of the reigning all Ireland champions.

You could start digging holes into are they on the decline or there problems in their camps and so on. But certainly the same can be done for any team. I think we have faced tougher opposition then dublin or kerry so for this year. And they haven't been great anytime I have watched them. But they still considered favourites. Based on current from to date you would say both Galway and Derry have the better form in the book. But doesn't always work out like that

One point I forgot to mention was the throw ins. From what I remember Galway won all four throw ins and got a point from each one. Clearly had done their homework on them after the Donegal match. In match like yesterday it is the fine margins like that which make the difference

I know there bit of talk about hoping Derry go on to win the whole lot. Appreciate they are only team left from Ulster but there is something about Gallagher I just can't stand. Maybe it goes back to his playing days. Personally would much rather see Galway win the whole thing
Firstly welcome back, I remember you from the old site. I agree with you on Gallagher and his style of play. I have no gripe with Derry but I would hate to see them win with his style of football. Just when things were opening up again this dinosaur brings us back to the bad old days. Likewise with McGuinness, anyone wanting him anywhere near Armagh football need their heads examined. Armagh have played open attractive football (for the most part) all year and it is a joy to watch not like that other turgid shite.

I think it was 3 but we got a foul then blown on the other one. Could be wrong.

They 100% had a number done on Ben. Fair play to them!

I'm wondering would it be beneficial for the county board to arrange a press conference with TK so he can apologies and try to stem the furore over the eye gouging incident? He definitely needs protection and help at the minute.
Have to agree. The lad made a mistake and it would be wrong to hang him out to dry. Put the hands up, apologise, accept the punishment and move on.

I believe…think…that King Billy was being sarcastic in his comment on possible managers. And thank God for that!

The traffic was absolutely mental coming up the road. I have never seen it like that before even during the 2000's. I wonder was it purely down to the volume of people attending or was it partly because of the price of hotel rooms meaning everyone travelled on the day?
Wouldn’t know, skipped the tolls through Drogheda and came off at the airport junction ;)

I'm not defending anyone here but the majority of the fans were very well behaved i seen lots of families with young kids , lots of young girls as well who were really interested in the match , my girl never took her eyes off the game and was distraught at the end but that's life . Young people in General are always going to be boisterous and the few that were there from Galway had plenty to say as well , I seen a bit of commentary on the 'Derry Lads' as well so its par for the course and it has always been there .

Obviously people fighting and if they knocked down a child is a disgrace again some people uses matches as an excuse to go to drink , some people like most of us on the forum i would say would go for the football , but on every social occasion , concerts , weddings etc you get these type of people and kids see it unfortunately , but lets not think that our crowd are as worse as anyone else . A lot of the young crowd were just having a good time , ive been there myself mini bus, cans shouting and roaring , its a phase of life . The league games will be perfect to bring your kids to develop their interest in the team , it will be just football no other distractions .
There was no if about it. It happened. He is 5 ffs. What impression will he have now? He has been to games all over the country already but this was the first time he has seen this. Grown men. Shocking

Yeah your right. I had 6 year old with me and if that had happened they’d have gotten more than a shove back. We’ve all been there during the glory times of the noughties in the beer gardens of clones and the bars of Drumcondra, although I think the younger ones nowadays are more rowdy than when I was late teens/early twenties. As someone said and I agree, bring him to few league games next year when the bandwagoners will be nowhere to be seen

Yes agree and he will need whatever smart minds that we have to get him assistance to deal with this , a talented player whos career is only starting , learn and move on accept the ban , but some of the nonsense like 'never let him play again ' is people just looking for attention , most probably have never played and a lot probably have never attended a match .

What a game that was and brilliant efforts by the team and supporters where great also. I am super proud of the players and they showed they can compete with anyone. On reflection a few things stick in my head. Dive that they got a free for. Burns fists over when goal on. But the one that really sits with me is I think turbitt has the ball straight after our 3rd goal and I think it was a free shot and open net he could of ran on but shot wide they go right up and score a goal. A score there kills the game

Absolute privilege to be wearing an orange jersey supporting our team in Croke Park yesterday. On reflection I think Galway probably just shaded it, we had a 15 min spell at the beginning and 10 at the end of NT, otherwise I felt Galway dictated the game and we were always responding.

For 40 mins soupy & Grugan kept us in the game. Rafferty was absolutely immense.

The championship is definitely poorer for us exiting. The second match was devoid of atmosphere & intensity. Take Clifford out of that Kerry team and they are well beatable. I actually think the winner will come from either Derry or Galway.

Thanks to geezer & all the players for a gr8 year, the futures bright

I doubt the county board will get involve or release any statement of any kind before any disciplinary action is taken (which I assume there will be).

And to be honest I think that is the right stance. Deal with it internally and move on. The whole public image and social media side of I'm sorry (and might be harsh) but that ship has sailed the moment he did what he did

I hope those kids that witnessed the unsavoury behaviour are ok. It’s not nice when it happens, but worse for wee kids to witness such antics. Unfortunately big games seems to bring out such people and such behaviour.

As people have said, maybe the McKenna/NFL is s better time to introduce kids to matches. It might freeze the hole off you, but the sunshine supporters will be nowhere to be seen. Plus, you’ll get a better seat.

On another note, maybe it’s just me being an old fart, but GAA games seem to have taken on a strange life of its own in terms of some who attend, and certain behaviour. Let me explain...

Maybe it’s social media, and the behaviour that that produces. And not just from kids/teenagers neither. I hear of people going to concerts even if they aren’t fans of the singer/band. The gig is hyped up and everyone else seems to be going. It’s the thing to be seen at. And share your experience on SM, to try and prove to people how exciting your social life is. This seems to be the case with the GAA now.

If you actually have a look around you, people are continually taking selfies or videos of themselves and their mates. It’s more noticeable when you watch highlights on TV. If there’s a score, fans are videoing their reaction and assumingly putting it on SM.

A few weeks ago, I (unfortunately) seen a clip of Hampsey lifting Sam last year. There was a bunch of people within a yard or two. While he was raising Sam, there’s a number of people videoing/selfie-ing themselves. Bear in mind, they are witnessing history here. Their team, their captain, winning the AI. Sam is being hoisted a yard from your face, and you are videoing yourself. I mean, wtf? What’s happening to the world?

Right, thats my old man rant over for today. I’m away to yell at a cloud...
