On the game I think Galway were the better team and deserved to win although for the first 20 minutes we were looking comfortable. I had hoped that we would bring an intensity to the game that they would struggle with but they looked very well ready for that. Judging by Comer and Walsh they were expecting "attention" and went on the offensive which is fair enough, they weren't going to be bullied.
It's terrible shame that the Armagh haters have the chance to put the boot in again after the row. There are those that don't even watch a game but will be all over the keyboards to be disgusted at Armagh. 100 minutes of football and they will only speak of the 1 minute of madness. Whilst I don't condone the fighting I played enough football over the years to understand the emotions these players are going through, they are not robots.
Let's hope we can build on this. I really hope Kieran Donaghy stays, I think he has brought so much to this team. I also think Geezer and McKeever should hang about, we are heading in the right direction.

Not a peep from you after the Tyrone , Donegal games then it’s full gung ho again after a defeat , it must have killed you when we equalised in normal time you probably had the Anti McGeeney ready to send . You were anti Grimley what I remember as well , who do you think will lead us to the next level. Give us a few names or is it anybody but McGeeney ?
I was never anti Grimley don’t know where you’ve got that, he got us to a qf in his second year same hurdle we fell at yesterday. Honestly after hearing the rumours that he was considering Down last year I think it’s only a matter of time before Jim McGuinness re-enters intercounty management and I believe we have the talent to entice him and he has the tactical nous to win us silverware.

A point was great - and we celebrated that point
But - was a goal chance there for the taking? And with it the winning of the game????
I agree. One thing I like about Derry is that if a goal chance is on they go for it. Several of the goals Derry scored yesterday would have been fisted or tapped over the bar by Armagh players. Too many players take the safe option.

Special thoughts today for Soupy and Turbo. If I am feeling bad I can only imagine how those guys are feeling. Also TK, I have no doubt the lad will be feeling awful today. I'm sure you aren't reading this boys but in the off chance you are just know that the whole county are thinking about you. We remember the joy you brought us this year and previous ones. We know the effort and sacrifice you have given. You will have better days.

Have to agree.

The Armagh support yesterday was unreal. It genuinely was. The buzz and the nervous energy was fantastic! It was my two young boys first time in Croke Park and it was an experience I will take with me to my grave. Something money couldn't buy.

But if the price that comes with it is the droves of underage and young drunks running around then I am not sure it is worth it. The state of large number of supporters was embarrassing. Saw a couple of small scuffles and a few lucky not to be knocked down on the way back to the car yesterday. It was a poor look.
I'm not defending anyone here but the majority of the fans were very well behaved i seen lots of families with young kids , lots of young girls as well who were really interested in the match , my girl never took her eyes off the game and was distraught at the end but that's life . Young people in General are always going to be boisterous and the few that were there from Galway had plenty to say as well , I seen a bit of commentary on the 'Derry Lads' as well so its par for the course and it has always been there .

Obviously people fighting and if they knocked down a child is a disgrace again some people uses matches as an excuse to go to drink , some people like most of us on the forum i would say would go for the football , but on every social occasion , concerts , weddings etc you get these type of people and kids see it unfortunately , but lets not think that our crowd are as worse as anyone else . A lot of the young crowd were just having a good time , ive been there myself mini bus, cans shouting and roaring , its a phase of life . The league games will be perfect to bring your kids to develop their interest in the team , it will be just football no other distractions .

I think if we pulled up your posts from the old forum you would clearly see you were anti Grimley however i aint going to argue about it with you i couldn't be bothered .

Hard to know what to make of the match yesterday, still trying to process it all and will need to re-watch later. After a really good start we let Galway back into it and I feel one or two decisions went against us (last two points of the first half - an incredibly soft free from a dive under Canal End and then what appeared to be a throw ball)

The second half Galway really got into the groove and the ease at which their runners were able to penetrate our defence without being tracked was worrying. We really began to wilt and thought we were dead and buried at one stage, credit to the lads they never gave up and against all odds dragged themselves back into contention. Extra time again was crazy and I feel we could have nicked it right at the end, Rowland/Woods whoever missed that last opportunity will be having nightmares all week. Some of our players really stood up, Soupy was immense and was gutted for him after the penalty miss, Rian O’Neill gave an exhibition of calmness under pressure and if everyone had his composure we’d be in an AI semi final right now. I’m not sure if it was here or another forum but someone said the difference between us and Derry is that Derry will take on any half-chance on goal whereas Armagh will take the safe option - probably cost us as we had one or two opportunities that you just can’t pass by at this level.

The melee was handbags bar the TK incident and the Galway sub’s strike, I think TK needs to take whatever punishment comes his way, whether it was as bad as the camera shows or not he had no business doing what he did. I don’t know the lad personally but from what I had been told before this is completely out of character for him so I was surprised to see him plastered over social media.

Don't even know where to start with yesterday but will try. I thought during the week the game was going to go the distance and it proved right, a few ones even made a few quid on draw half time draw full time. I don't think that Galway were the better team yesterday, I think both teams were equal and they were just a little bit more clinical.

For the most part we learned from the Donegal game. We stayed in Div 1 and we played well against 3 Div 1 teams in the championship. Small margins cost us yesterday and that needs to be a learning curve. Couple of very soft frees in the first half let Galway in level at the break and a bit more composure means we don't give the ref a decision to make on them.

A year of development for Crealey and he will have Ciaran Mackin back in beside him next year with Sheridan another valuable option. I though the midfield broke even yesterday and we can get stronger in this department when injuries clear as O o Neill also a big loss here.

Woods and Kierans done well when they come on and the starting forwards played well. A few hand passes missed in a high intensity game is really the small difference between winning and losing.

Could we have been more ruthless a few times in possession, possibly, but every one of those players were out on their feet yesterday. It's the highest intensity game this team has played in years and we took it to penalties, a lottery.

A few things to work on next year on in game decision making, possibly we had the wrong man taking the last shot and it should have been turbitt on it. Could we have pressed the last kick out, I think so and galway would had to have run on empty legs to contest that kick out though at that stage I really don't even think our lads had the energy for that either.

There is potentially another year in that team. Let them play with their clubs for the rest of the season then go at it again next year. They know what is needed now and the fitness levels and effort needed and I still think they will press on a bit more. They gave it absolutely everything and it might actually be the making of a team for a real throw of the dice next year as the age profile suggest that there is one serious big push to come next season.

Well done lads. Armagh couldn't be prouder and we hope and know you will give it another effort.

Jim mc Guinness? Surly armagh even considering taking in a manager to set up as negatively as he does would be a huge backward step. Would love to see geezer being successful but maybe it does need freshened up a bit. At the same time is there anyone that could do a better job as he has made us competitive at the top table.

We have too good a forward line to waste it under McGuinness.

Future is bright for this team I hope we get better luck next year with injuries- stick Oisin O’Neill, TK and Ciaran Mackin into that team and it’s seriously strong.

Hope Donaghy stays on as he seems to be a massive addition and any of the lads I’ve been chatting too have said the same.

I’ve said it before but a huge thanks to all the lads and management for a super year and some unreal days out- the sacrifices those lads make all year round doesn’t get spoken about enough. As shite as everyone of us are feeling today you can guarantee they’re feeling 1000x worse.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m still getting goosebumps when I think of the absolute sea of orange yesterday in Croker- genuinely the best fans in the country by a mile. I’d say the roar when O’Neill hit that last point was louder than any sound ever recorded in Dublin.

We’ll be back.

The game has moved on since 2012 I doubt he’d set up so negatively nowadays. Are we really that competitive? Hard to say, Tyrone’s and Donegals form wasn’t brilliant when we came up against them, how Galway get on against Derry will provide a better yardstick to how far we’re off the best teams in the country, if they’re well beat by Derry we’re still away off the pace and conversely if they beat Derry and make a final we’re the contenders we claim to be.

TK is a fine footballer but he will be punished for his transgression. Nothing else to say!!
Have a memory for the 1983 Dublin Galway semifinal. 3 red cards and a tunnel brawl!!

One point I forgot to mention was the throw ins. From what I remember Galway won all four throw ins and got a point from each one. Clearly had done their homework on them after the Donegal match. In match like yesterday it is the fine margins like that which make the difference

I know there bit of talk about hoping Derry go on to win the whole lot. Appreciate they are only team left from Ulster but there is something about Gallagher I just can't stand. Maybe it goes back to his playing days. Personally would much rather see Galway win the whole thing

The traffic was absolutely mental coming up the road. I have never seen it like that before even during the 2000's. I wonder was it purely down to the volume of people attending or was it partly because of the price of hotel rooms meaning everyone travelled on the day?
