I don’t think it does anyone credit to exaggerate the potential impact of the Cullyhanna contingent. This sort of stuff is just divisive.
For what it’s worth, I really rate Jason Duffy and hope he’s back in for the championship. But McElroy has been occupying his role this year and playing very well. Understandable that Duffy has to bide his time right now, but he’ll be important again this year.
Aidan Nugent has really struggled to make an impact since his injury. I’m not sure who you drop out of Murnin, Turbitt or Conaty to make room for him, or how that could be justified. Hopefully he can get back to his form of two or three years ago, but he’s clearly not there right now.
And, for whatever reason, McQuillan is yet to deliver on his potential in an Armagh jersey. There’s just very little in his back catalogue of performances to justify significant playing time.
