Just watched the game back this morning, my takes from it would be;
Genuinely thought Sheridan had a strong game. Maybe not an ideal CHB but very strong when it came to work rate and turnovers.
Blaine's kickouts were a mixed bag, but entitled to somewhat of a free pass given conditions. That being said, it would be a slight concern going forward. Similarly, a few high balls lumped in which he didn't come for in the 2nd half. Maybe not his place to come for them but you'd hope his confidence will grow.
Thought Callum Cumisky tracking back and going forward was superb. He worked his socks off as did Soupy and Joe McIlroy.
Paddy Burns seemed to get on a lot of ball going forwarded and played a decent roll as a link man.
Defensively the Full Back line were solid. 10 points in 70 minutes and two of this in 50 minutes is no mean feat.
Jarly Óg grew in to the game and surging runs forward became a focal point for him, just a bit wasteful early on but lack of match practice and a small bit of niaveity probably to blame there.
Aidan Nugent getting more intelligent and cute in terms of decision making and took some lovely score.
Rian from placed balls. No more needs to be said
And the Jamie sending off. Must have watched it 10 times and can't for the life of me see any yellow card there. The play should have been stopped if that were the case.
All in all, a perfect tactical performance from Kieran and it's very clear that the players are fully invested in his ideas. Westmeath in two weeks is huge but for me, the Roscommon game is the big one now. They looked decent against an albeit poor Clare side.
Nice weekend off now to recharge the batteries for the road trip to Mullingar. The place seems like a second home at this stage.
