Good to see Grugan got alot of attention to his tweet yesterday, bringing forth a motion to the county convention to move all club league games to either a Friday or Saturday night. Would be great to get this changed, for all involved with clubs. Nothing worse than a sunday morning or afternoon game, especially for a player who has worked all week
Cant see it working.
We can't play games evening time until late May early June.
There are fixtures on Friday and Saturdays - did the u19s play Fridays?

Ladies football and Camogie would be impacted.
Not every club has lights and a second pitch.

There is merit to play more on Fridays and Saturdays but Sundays will be needed.
Why don't clubs agree to change to Friday / Saturday

But as someone else has said severe lack of referees and some refs do other codes as well.

No perfect solution other than try to play more on Fridays and Saturdays but Sundays will be needed.

If I remember at the time, Shea had an upcoming and challenging schedule of final professional exams. Not easy to balance the time demands involved. Maybe time constraints a little more favourable now-a great lad to help strengthen our defence.
That’s true. Acturial exams I think.
Hopefully he would go back. I’m sure Geezer will be asking the question anywy

It has to work, players want change.
With the split season coming in with club and county it could be May before the league gets up and running (I could be wrong on that), but even if it is earlier, players won't be too bothered playing the first game or two on Sundays if they know that come the summer months they are going to get Sundays off.

Basically any day would be better than Sunday, hurling league in Armagh has always been a tuesday night and it works perfectly, and its not just the younger players that want rid of the Sunday league games to enjoy any sort of a decent social life, older players with young children and families are also in favour, a whole summer of not being able to plan a weekend away with the family is madness.

I'm sure most players wouldn't mind the odd Sunday game but just not every league game.

Just on the "both clubs agree to change", I get your point but for one reason or another it very rarely seems to happen, I think if it takes breaking up the league games between Thursday to Saturday (and the odd game on Sundays) we should have enough resources to cover in terms of pitches refs etc giving the concerns raised by those involved with Ladies football.

But you see as much as your reply is agreeable with if a motion says Friday and Saturday it means no games on a Sunday can be played.
Therefore the motion would fail.
Armagh leagues start April so that means Saturday afternoon or Sunday for games.
Remember most clubs have one pitch and if they field at some underage levels games have to be played and some training
If there's a ladies team(s) they need training and game slots.
So the schedule gets very tight.
If games could be played Friday great. When do you train?
The logistics don't support no Sunday games. A motion can only be looked at on its wording. So the detail of the motion is important

Just nice to see the beginning of an intelligent and instructive discussion on an increasingly serious issue. Plaudits to all!

My opinion who deserve a chance at county level
Heffron - CE - think he had stepped away
C Mcconville cross
Martin - Dromintee
Okane - Harps
Woods cruppen
Keenan - cruppen
Niall MCconville - st peters
Heard they have all got trials or involved in some capacity before. A training panel is getting picked at the minute
