Folks (sorry AB just picking up from your post as it's the first I've stopped at after coming on) I've just finally gotten to watch the slaughter.......I mean annihilation of Donegal and of course the boos are very obvious, but am I imagining boos when Ethan got on the ball and goes on a run. I know the booing is idiotic and damn stupid whatever the reason, but what on earth did Ethan do? Was it something in the warm up that the game footage didn't mention or am I just imagining it - remember I did share some of the @PatMustard mouldy cheese!!!!
I remember after either the defeat in the league or in Ulster some Donegal people were claiming that Ethan spat at Murphy when they went to shake hands but I never heard anything of it outside online.

Where I was, any cheers at Ethan seemed to be good natured and coming from Armagh fans shouting shooooot.

I heard them too. If nobody else heard them, I think we need to lay off that cheese.
Tick

Read somewhere that he apparently spat water in Murphy's face....not sure when
Cheers. Really was starting to think it was the damn cheese. The effect of that shit takes far too long to wear off. I think we need to get back to the soup from the old forum..............CUE.......

Sunday was such a great day for the Armagh team and the supporters. We've all waited a long time for a win like this over Donegal. Apart from a 15 minute spell, I thought we were excellent and totally dominated Donegal. All their main players were more or less snuffed out. Murphy had little impact was shut down by Forker only scored one from play. McBrearty was totally anonymous with Morgan doing a great job on him. McHugh and Ban Gallagher had little impact going forward and were forced into more defensive duties and their midfield didn't have nearly the same impact. We unsettled them and played at an intensity that they just couldn't match.

Rian O'Neill was from another planet he was that good. He's one of the top players in the country without doubt. The only thing I think that is missing that sets the like of David Clifford and Con O'Callaghan apart from him is they play consistently at the highest level match after match. He's a very different player to them in that they are out and out forwards, while he does a bit of everything. But if he can continue to be a consistent scoring threat, hitting five to eight points a game, we will go a long way.

I think Ben Crealy has really stood up the last two matches. He's obviously a huge man and can get around the field, but there have been questions in my mind about his ability to really mix it in the engine room. He's been brilliant recently, doing a huge amount of dirty work and clocking up serious distance. His role in the first goal was massive and he laid on the third.

Conor O'Neill, Jason Duffy, Greg McCabe and Rory Grugan also had big games on Sunday. The fact we are played so well without the Mackins, Burns, Grimley and Oisin O'Neill is a real testament to the strength of the squad.

Very serious questions had to be asked after the first Donegal match. It was a total shambles and followed a worrying pattern that we've seen far too often. However the last two wins have been of the highest calibre. Yes they've been against a Tyrone side that have been out of form and a Donegal side that have been labouring and look like are having an identity crisis. But our attitude has been spot on and will go into the Galway match full of confidence. This is a really tough game to call. Galway have some serious footballers in Shane Walsh, Paul Conroy, Matthew Tierney and Damian Comer to name a few. They are Connacht Champions and will fancy their chances in the wide open spaces of Croke Park to use their pace to get after us. I think we have the players to match them and have better forwards. If we can get a few back from injury, then I can see us beating them and setting up a semi final with Derry.
Not trying to be negative but you haven't mentioned the 15-20 minute period when we were hammered 9-1 or something like that. We were heading for a possible pasting at that stage!

On the booing of Ethan I genuinely thought that was Armagh fans shouting “shoot!”
Yes 100% PG. I could definitely hear that too at the times mostly later in the game and assumed that it was a reaction by our own to the booing!!

Ah that sounds vile. Totally admire Ethan, but if that was true about doing that to Murphy, then that's sick and stupid and needs called out too. The fact that I never heard a whisper of it though, meant that the story wasn't widespread, so hopefully untrue. Same reply as above about the "shoooooooooooooot" shouts!!

Thanks lads. Thankfully I haven't completely lost it.............................. BOG OFF AND DON"T SAY IT!!

Completely agree with that addition. Mind you. It's always often said, it's not how you start, but how you finish! How many times have we went well and then died a death and lost a certain win?? I'll take ignoring the fact we were 0-09 to 1-01 down after approx 20 minutes EVERY day when we get that result hi !!

I saw those claims by Donegal people about Ethan after the Ballyboofey match on hoganstand but that forum was so full of lies it was unbelievable.
If there was any truth in it do you think the media wouldn't have been all over it and someone would have caught it on camera.

With regards to Ethan - If it were true, the Donegal camp would have immediately come out and spoken about it, as other counties have done with regards to similar actions. As far as I'm concerned, no one has and it therefore shouldn't be given any more noise. Too many faceless names and accusations on forums at times.
But agree, the booing isn't atmospheric and I do find it a bit distasteful. That said, Armagh fans are some of the best in the business and I hope we bring our colour and voices to Croke Park next weekend!

For all the new members and those that were there. Jan 6 in breffni park land the deep horror of the snow drive home. It’s the last two games that make those all worthwhile.
Everyone following this team knew the talent was there. It’s taken too long to reveal itself fully but god it’s been fun to watch recently.

Just on Sunday's match, a huge well done to players, geezer, the management team and supporters. After the ballybofey performance, I thought we were in desperate need of change, however, the last 2 performances / results have been spectacular.

Morgan, McKay and McCabe have become leaders and jason Duffy has found a performance level which I just didn't think he had - I just love the way he plays football and conducts himself on the pitch. Rian - just how lucky are we to have him.

We've won 5 matches so far this year with the margins of victory being 5 (dublin), 6 (tyrone), 5 (kildare), 6 (tyrone) and 10 (donegal). Unlikely we can keep these margins of victory going but hopefully the lads now have the game management to grind out a win when needed. Most of our defeats have been to narrow margins (1 point, 2 points, 3 points and 7 points)

Forker for comer, Morgan for walsh and McKay for finnerty?

On the booing, I noticed the derry fans doing it in the ulster final but personally I really would prefer we didn't do it

I was on the hill on Sunday just below the TV cameras over in the next section to my left was a group of 40/50 Armagh fans that's where the noise was coming from when Ethan was on the ball.If it was shoooot they were shouting they would need to pronounce their s and ts better as it sounded to me they where booing their own goalkeeper.Although only a tiny minority they were a complete embarrassment imo with a total lack of respect for other spectators around them.Soccer style chants and the Celtic symphony don't belong at Gaa matches and the goading of Donegal fans leaving early out of order in the way it was done.Breathing in the fumes from their flares was also very unpleasant.Small things to complain about but was a negative in what was otherwise a fantastic day for the team and fans and county as a whole just hope I don't come across the same crowd in Croke park.

Not playing devil's advocate here but I actually believe that provincial winners should get a home draw in the quarters.

Yes - those who come through the qualifiers have to play an extra game but that's not always an advantage to provincial winners. Indeed it can often be quite the opposite.

Provincial winners go 4 weeks without a game whilst qualifiers build momentum and get a two week break.

I'm not complaining this year but had Armagh won Ulster next I'd be wanting a home draw in the quarters. Croke park for semis and final.

But HQ dictate and they will undoubtedly get two large crowds so obvioulsy I can see the sense in that too.
