Find it strange why Ross McQuillan wasn't used as a sub on Sunday
Hasn’t shown much in any of the games he’s came on in and obviously isn’t playing/training as well as the likes of Kieran and Woods who came on. Hope him and McConville can push for places next year.

Thought both Woods and Kieran did exceptionally well. Was that Woods inter county debut or championship debut?

Upon receipt of a red card, a player is ordered off the field. Saw a game the other day when two captains were red carded, one left the field immediately, the other stayed on the field and took part in not one but two subsequent coin tosses.

Still gutted after a fantastic effort

The scenes at full time were unsavoury but not uncommon. A bad look but has anyone actually looked at what started it?

How often in recent times have Dublin gone to Healy Park and NOT had a HT "incident"? I guess it was the Armagh players involved what started it yer honour!

Armagh DID not just fight with themselves. If they did it would have lasted 5 seconds. Sure they reacted but hell, would it have been okay if they had not reacted to going 6 points behind?? A reaction has consequences.

TK is a bloody good lad and like most kids (unless you're under 25 he's a kid) very stupid. Absolutely no chance of condoning an eye gouging incident. It's disgusting, but to be intentional it needs to be guided. Has anyone noted where he was looking when he"gouged"? Had it gone wrong it would have gone horribly wrong, but then again had the train derailed on the way to the game a lot of people would have been injured. It didn't! They weren't! A "what if" at best!!

So many of the current "pundits" just cannot handle the game having evolved from their day and the fact that players today have a much higher profile than they ever could or should have had. The dinosaurs realise they face extinction unless their noise is enough to make them "relevant". Sorry it's laughable. Worst part is Peter Canavan is actually quite good even if I can' agree with thing ge says even when he praises us. Old habits and all that!!! Brolly????? Holy shit I'd never have thought I'd miss him. Sorry @PatMustard but they're all attention seekers trying to out do each other so "they" get the next gig!

Also sorry @Diarmi but the picture you shared of the tv shot of the players is photoshopped. That poor player is actually grabbing the ball in the original and some clever sod added a clearly vicious and rabid player onto his hand!

I wouldn't want our county board to defend a fusbal goal (5 feet wide) with bumbling mickey mouse at the helm never mind looking after TK. Geezer is the man for that along with his club, who, by reading their statement are measured!

The red card was wrong. Watch the slow motion replay. He made an attempt to make a legal shoulder check and as the opponent spotted him he turned and dropped his shoulder for impact and was unfortunately caught wrong - just! If that is a red card a lot will be issued during games for mistimed tackles.

It makes zero difference now, but if a player is red carded they are ordered from the field of play and can take no further part in proceedings for that day. Has anyone else noted who was in for the coin toss for the extra time "after" being sent off!

The couple of high balls from Rian weren't just hail Mary's. He "put it in the square" as we all hear shouted so many times at a game and "let's see what happens". Bloody well calculated efforts.

Don't be under any illusion too about the drunken carry on. We were staying quite late in Dublin, so stayed for the second (yawn fest) game. Driving back up past Fagan's a couple of very drunk Mayo lads and 3 in Galway shirts jumped in a trailer behind a van in front of us at the lights as it went to drive off, with one of the Galway lads falling head first out again as it moved off as they did it. He face planted into the road and was quite badly injured and one of the others fell as he tried to jump out to get back to him. It was a mess and ambulance had to be called. Drink has a lot to play in high jinx and it rarely ends well in large crowds with large amounts consumed quickly by the uncontrollable!

I'll say it. I'm damn proud to be from Armagh. I'm damn proud of how we played and how we gave it all. To hell with the mouths that have nothing but contempt for us. They should feel like that. We have them rattled and knowing we are a proper threat to one of their main titles that we should have no ambition for. With the amount of money we brought back to Croke Park, we deserve better respect and protection - not withstanding the fact (and I repeat) the gouging and disruption at full time was stupid and ugly.

It seems some think that there is an entitlement and Armagh should be winning so much more and so much more regularly. It might surprise some, but the trophy cabinet has one more piece of senior silverware than the ark had dinosaurs. A direct comparison that might just be relevant.

Look these are just personal thoughts and opinions and I offer none of this as fact. Just the ramblings of an old man hurting after a defeat of a team he loves and believes in for his pastime. Recently I've had some personal family issues. If you are really thinking that the result "really is a big deal", then get a dose of reality. It's sport. Try dealing with a real "life" issue and get perspective. Certainly get animated and annoyed. But in the big scheme of things, it's not even a list of contents in an instructional manual.

A massive thank you to those that messaged me recently to check if all was ok when I had to miss a big game.

Oh and finally, I owe @JoeH an apology and refund. I'm sorry Joe. I just had to go one last time to see if it was true and not sadly it seems it is!!

I haven't bothered checking if grammar and spelling are correct and don't give a sh1**. That's my latest novel complete. I'll be back around Christmas to prepare for the Dr. McKenna cup classics

I said the same thing to the brother that was beside me… Galway’s lads are flagging. Two players on their knees gasping and a big hit by McCabe. We weathered the storm and had a grip on the game. We were coming and bingo - red card!! That took the wind out of our sails and the extra man made Galway look great. Momentum was talked about for the past two weeks and we had it. As you say we’ll never know. But the resilience we showed and the resolve to get back was something out of the story books. It’s a game that we’ll talk about in our old age. And fuck the begrudgers. We owned Croke Park on Sunday, well for a while
I am!!

3 big games and 3 wrestling matches involving ourselves - 2 at the tunnel. Geezer will just have to say to the lads to run directly to centre of the field or somewhere and not react to anything en route in future, irrespective of result, then walk off together. We will be under the microscope big time now.

Every time I try and gather my thoughts about Sunday they run off on another tangent. Most things have been well covered. In truth Galway were probably a bit better than I realised and played closer to their potential on the day than we did. Until the crazy ending we never had a patch in the second half where we really got at them to close the gap and just as it looked like we were the red card came. A few inches the other way he catches him right, turns it over and...... well thats just one of the many alternative games playing in my head! The biggest frustration is we were pretty good in the 2nd half of extra time and couldn't hold out.

Armagh, by that I mean (almost) every supporter, the team and management, created one of the best occasions witnessed in Croke Park and it was only a QF. Lads from Carlow came to be on the Hill to be part of it! The attacking style and give it a go philosophy that was present in the last 3 games and early league contribute to that so a huge thanks to the team. So many other matches are like tennis... appreciate the skill and all but more atmosphere on mars. We will be missed from the rest of the championship.

It's also not just the discipline issue the Association needs to look at. Rules and schedules have been tinkered with with little benefit and have resulted in more detriment to the club scene. We need to find ways to create more games like sunday. The whole melee thing, the TK incident aside, is a useful cover to avoid the debates around these issues and as for penalties they ended up ruining both games - I just felt strangely detached from the whole process after being so caught up.

The management should definitely stay they deserve it on merit. Comparisons to the 01/02 situation don't really hold. Then we were a team that had a style, were established and experienced but just needed to get over the line. Now we are still developing, have hopefully settled on a style and try to enhance it and the line is still a bit in the distance but getting closer. Realistically we would have only 4 or 5 who start on either of the top 2/3 teams but with this years development of players that number will only increase. A new management is likely to try to make us harder to beat by being slightly more negative.

We have a group that has given us a great year and they now have a taste for the big occasion to drive the hunger for success. Let's hope it comes.

Can't wait for next year.

I actually thought there was a guidance or rule in place for one team to leave at a time as it seems to happen quite regularly.

What a day and what an occasion. We've had a taste of it and we all want back and I think Croker wants us back also. I'd say the players never experienced anything like it either. Regroup and get back there again next year and we as supporters will turn her orange once again!

Ach @Big Jim what kept ye, man? I’ve been looking forward to your usual post match rant :p

Your novels posts always put me through the ringer of emotions. Somehow you seem to talk a lot of nonsense, yet make perfect sense, dragging up every emotion and all that’s good about Armagh. And life. Doing so with that Whitecross Ballyhegan Killeavy (wherever it is you’re from) wit of yours.

But I agree. We should be damn proud to be from Armagh and of the lads for their recent performances. That game, the crowd, the noise, the scores, the emotions will live long in the memory. Someone sent me copies of videos of Rian’s late free taken from different angles. I have watched them numerous times and I get goosebumps every time. Just as I did when I sat there watching it live. What a moment!

But also, as you say James, we are all gutted and deflated by the defeat. But you’re right, it’s sport. There are bigger things to deal with. A young hurler was laid to rest Sunday, and a wee kid lost his life in a car accident. Life is cruel.

Sport helps us in many ways, but it’s only sport at the end of the day.

I think so Jim but all that seems to fall away when things turn on their heads like on Sunday. A proper disciplined team will go directly to where their manager wants though when that whistle goes. Joe used to have them sprinting off the pitch at h-t and every player did it irrespective of the score. Discipline is so, so important and it has killed us over the last few years!

Well lads, first time poster here. Have to say that's the best campaign we have had in a decade (league & championship) and I simply can't understand anyone calling for a change in management as a result.

It's already been mentioned, but was brilliant to see the two new lads Eoin woods and Justin Kieran and having a positive impact. Hopefully see more of them next year. Any other new young fellas to bring into the team? Mccambridge maybe?

I hope both management and entire squad stay on for at least another year. Soupy, grugan, morgan, shields and rowland all hitting past 30 now but still have a lot to give. An injury free Oisin O'Neill would take this team to another level - I think he can be just as good as his younger brother. Onwards and upwards. Already excited for the Mckenna cup.
Welcome, and a very nice and positive post.

The comments I've read from joe brolly and colm o'rourke are disgusting. Two irrelevant 'pundits' trying to remain relevant.

Joe hardly mentioned gareth mckinless' eye gouge on galway's sean kelly in derry's league game against galway earlier this year? An incident which lasted approx 1 minute, resulted in a red card and after which padraig joyce said kelly couldn't see after the 'incident'. Anyway, I'm not trying to defend TK's actions.

Unfortunately, bad luck, bad PR and indiscipline are killing us.

As noted by so many, the colour and support on Sunday were magnificent. So so proud to be an armagh supporter

I can only imagine that IF were looking forward to a semi final or a QF replay that the GAA would have absolutely hammered us with suspensions. Needless to say, they're going to hammer us come 2023 with suspensions, fines and loss of home fixtures

Fair enough but does it really matter that he stood there for the coin toss I don’t see any point in raising this issue .
