Think no matter what group we end up in we shouldn't have a whole lot to fear. The Tyrone/Galway group does appear harder on paper. But would be good opportunity to get a bit of revenge on both of them after the past 12 months (Galway beating us on pens and Tyrone relegating us)

The other group I would be confident of beating all three teams. Donegal and Monaghan might be a bit tricky with it being Ulster teams. But the position they are in don't think they are capable of beating us. They would need to improve drastically on what they have shown to date
We relegated ourselves. Tyrone just happened to be our opponents when our relegation was confirmed. Reality was, we didn’t do enough to stay up.

I would be more confident facing Donegal at the minute. Monaghan would be a trickier assignment.

Stop you being so pedantic ;)

Rolling into the 4 provincial finals , and there’s only one final that’s competitive, the other 3 are done and dusted outside a systemic shock . Should league status not supercede a county getting to a provincial final ? Is Sligo getting tanked by Dublin exactly why the new competition was introduced for . Maybe only the winners of the province should automatically get a place or the provincials should be seeded based on your league positions , e.g Ulster seed 9 v 8 in a qualifier , winner plays seed 1 2 v7 etc it might even in up a bit , if the councils want to keep the provisionals . Also point about the Dublin bias in Croke Park , how handy is it for Kerry in Munster , 2 games to win Munster (top seeds) gives them a massive advantage at least the dubs have to play 3, however this playing their league and championship matches in an empty Croke Park , it’s so familiar to them , it’s like us playing all our matches in the AG.

I agree with you to an extent, but for talks sake if Down had have beaten us the other day and made a final, they’d have been fully deserving of a place in the A championship.

The Connacht championship needs seeded for sure. If Sligo had beat Roscommon, Mayo or Galway to get to a final they’d have deserved their place; but beating a couple of division 4 teams then getting tanked by Galway doesnt make them deserving of anything.

Seen online Dublin have home game and neural game at croke park and with conleth park under construction it means Kildare could be made play them in croke park which would be all 3 games in croker

Then they play Dublin in a neutral venue ‘ Croke Park’ probably , what’s the handicap 12/ 13 points , as I said before the point of the new competition was to avoid one sided matches .

Today's finals most certainly show that provincials are finished at worst, at best they'll need better seeding

Cora Staunton summed up the new format - The group stages will have 24 games. Only 4 teams eliminated at the end of it. That’s a lot of football, and we’re still not really getting anywhere.

These groups are designed to be the GAA’s cash cow. Given the low attendances at today’s finals, one sided games, and with the high cost of living, I don’t think it’ll be the cash cow they think. Especially that these games will be played with the Benny Hill theme playing. A lot of people just won’t be able to attend so many games in a short period of time.

(The last paragraph was me, not Cora).
