Message never got to him. Seriously.

Hes a county footballer surly he knows a goal is worth 3 and when your 3 down in the last play a point aint good enough.

Same happened us in the league game if im not mistaken with justin kierans.
That’s what it looked like
He obviously wasn’t aware of the time (there was no game clock that I could see)
After he knocked it over I seen couple of our players waving their arms at him

Aloha, so we meet again after last years penalty kick horror. We are not going great but have the two wins. Ye are not going great either but both teams will reach the knockout stages. Im not sure how topping group works if ye bate us is it head to head or scoring difference. I expect Galway to improve a bit on last two showings with O Neill a big loss for ye. I think we will win but no huge shock should Armagh prevail.

Are Morgan and McCambridge fit to play in 2 weeks time? If yes they come into the defence, move Jarly Og to midfield.

Soupy to be held back until the last 25 minutes . Although Turbitt has been very disappointing in the last few games, i think we have to trust him and play him with Rian missing.

Re Cian, I am not so sure - hasn't shown anything yet in an orange Jersey.
I think he will shine. He has no other choice.

Finally, chat about the management is futile at this stage of the year. Sure they could probably be doing some things better, and I'm certain there will be a thorough evaluation of the situation at the end of the season. But I'd caution those now baying for replacement to be careful what you wish for...

The current group of players didn't just land into McGeeney's lap - he has crafted this team over many, many years. In the absence of any sort of conveyor belt of underage talent over the last decade, resources have had to maximised and intercounty players have had to be moulded from what was available. There are men putting in good shifts for Armagh at the top level who probably wouldn't be near intercounty football under any other management - it's from these efforts that we have our modest amount of squad depth. When the current management team does depart, which may be soon enough, it will very likely precipitate the retirement of up to half a dozen playing stalwarts. We will then enter a rebuilding phase, and with little to shout about in Armagh football recently at underage or club level, it looks not at all unlikely that the only way will be down (or, Down - like in languishing in Div 3 and going nowhere fast). Anyone that thinks we'll hit the next level just by landing Oisin McConville, Tony McEntee, or Malachy O'Rourke in on top of the current playing group isn't living in the real world.

I don't often get the urge to stand and applaud a post on here, but this was so on the money that it was nearly getting a 'Bravo!' in Chez Firefly.

This is very much along my own thoughts and I'm sure my previous posts of my own will echo what Ed has said, albeit without the same panache.

I am watching Division 1 football in Armagh this year and the standard of what I am watching is terrible. It simply underlines what we can see with our own eyes - that the standard of football throughout the county is accurately reflected by the performances of our Senior, Intermediate and Junior County Champions each year in the Ulster Club tournaments, and by our performance in Ulster at Minor and Under 20.

That is the context in which Geezer has Armagh knocking on the door of the All Ireland knockout stages.

The reality is that Geezer has us boxing way above our weight, and the reality of that will come in the form of a chickens coming home to roost period in the coming years. Key to our success has been some excellent players who have committed to the County cause because of McGeeney but who are now getting to the veteran stage, and will see them stepping down in the near future. Geezer going - I am convinced - would only accelerate that process.

There can be no doubt about it - Geezer has become very much a marmite like figure in Armagh, as our senior manager. I thought I was going to get lynched by the stewards at 12.30 Mass in the Cathedral today for having the temerity to repeat the 'be careful what you wish for' line, in response to their demand for change.

Lot of people giving off about our style of play last night - we scored 11 points and had 12 wides, without considering goal chances saved and balls falling short into the square. We therefore had to have had over 25 efforts on goal last night. And by the way - I was in line with Soupy's shot last night and I thought it was wide.

Our shooting - as has been the case all year - was terrible, which also brings me to another gripe of mine; the notion that we have a top class forward line. I'm afraid that is an absolute myth. Our forward line would not compare to that of Kerry, Dublin, Mayo, Galway or Tyrone, to name but five. We have good, honest players in our attack but they are not top standard forwards. The evidence has been there for all to see all year as we have consistently spurned chances to finish games off. Yet we are consistently told that Geezer - by his gameplan - is holding back this enormous firepower.

Undoubtedly Geezer's time will finish. I fear what happens thereafter for our County side, because in the medium to long term I do not see a lot to fill me with confidence and at that time the mob can turn their gaze on the next man with the Bainisteoir's bib.

Maybe if our key scoring forwards (Rian, Turbitt, Soupy) didn't exhaust themselves playing so much in our defence, they might have more sharp energy to enable them to score more.

It's near time to be brave and have more confidence in the Armagh players we have. Geezers given so much to Armagh but many are questioning we're we are going under leadership, that is not a mob but people who want to see the best for Armagh and the direction of the team. I understand Geezer there until the end of the year so perhaps it is disrespect of this management until year is over talking about their future but it is understandable

Iv had a big think about this after watching the game back today.

Iv seen someone comment previously about the state of club football in armagh and havevw to agree. Having seen teams in div 1A and 2B the past two years, i think it's miles off monaghan, derry, and Down Club football.

i can't think of 3 players currently not on the squad that would come in and make a big difference to the panel. Anyone that can please enlighten me.

I do believe that we need to be careful what some people are looking for with management gone. I haven't been the biggest of fans of geezer, and maybe 9 years is too long, but i think he has been punching above with the squad. If he was to walk, I'd imagine 4-5 of the players would go too. Unfortunately, we dont have 4-5 players to come into that squad to match what will leave, in my opinion.

Yes we can question tactics and systems and players not getting game time that we think should but the management team spend 4 or 5 nights aweek with the players and im assuming know all strength and weaknesses of the players.

For the next two weeks and hopfully longer, there is zero point slating or criticising the players and management. After the season is over, we can all have a review and see how best to progress.

Peace out.

I agree with some aspects of you're post but am puzzled at this idea players would leave if Geezer left, what's the evidence for that?

I have read most of the posts about the match and don't really want to say anything more. I agree with Rufus about a lot of things but I disagree with his point on our forwards. Rian Murnin and Grugan would get on any team in Ireland. A few others have improvement in them. Despite winning yesterday Tyrone didn't show a great deal. Darragh Canavan carried them with some assistance from Donnelly and McCurry. Canavan is only one though I would want playing for Armagh.

In the club football Rufus is 100% correct. It is as bad as I have ever seen it.

Underage is a conundrum. There are plenty of good young players in Armagh but the coaching from clubs to academy seems to be lacking. Schools football is a poor barometer in my opinion as in some cases the teachers have no interest 8n developing footballers for Armagh.
