He never wins a ball out in front.. Too slow, plus the way Armagh play he'll be coming from deep onto the ball.. I can see the top teams exposing him in Croker. Sunday twice Galway attacked him and went passed him to easy for scores.. It is broke. Did you forget Armagh where relegated and threw away an Ulster title. Still alot of improvement needed.
What top teams are you referring to?

I think both points on forker are correct, he is too slow for one on one verse a top county forward now, but that said, with the defensive structures in place in todays game, it very rare this happens, and I would be in the camp of leaving him were he is, having a great year so not lets change it

I’m not going to criticise the lads, because they all put in an amazing shift on Sunday. Just on Forker though, someone said about Walsh getting a point off him in the first half. I watched the video later, and no matter how many times you see it, I was willing him to fly across Walsh with a diving block to deny the point. It was just set up for it. But anyway...

He went 1:1 vs Walsh to score his second point yesterday

Indeed, and what a point it was. In an era of packed defences it lends itself perfectly to Forker and his long range abilities. Rian would be another, almost better staying out around midfield or half back when a team is set up then coming onto it late and having a go at it from around the 45 (that's if you cant transition quick enough and get early ball in before the masses get back into position)

I do not see any need for (or prospect of) moving Forker into the forwards. He is a core part of the defensive system and comes forward very effectively at times.
BUT - I do think it is very important that our "lesser defensively minded" players are not left in a one on one situation in our defence.

I thought Soupy was very good up front yesterday but he did let Kelly go past him too easily without a tackle and another time he let a forward in behind him for an easy point .
I accept that the system requires most of our forwards to get back and defend, but ideally we would keep the likes of Soupy and Murnin up front so as to keep the opposition defence on their toes (and let our fitter, younger players do most of the tracking back).

On a separate matter, what is the injury update on McCambridge and Morgan - 2 players I would love to see fit for Croker. McCambridge was a very effective man marker during the league, so it would be good to have him for the QF. Same with Morgan.
Is McCambridge injured ? He was among the subs on Sunday , strange the way he was the go to man for marking the likes of Clifford etc and now is on the sidelines .

I think its a bit like the Nugent case, struggling to recapture form after the injury. Looked a bit sluggish against Derry I thought and we are not really in a position to play people back into from, perhaps a club game would do him a world of good.

Wouldn't be messing with player positions now - everyone knows their role. Nothing to stop Forker coming forward and tagging on a few points where necessary. I don't know how surprised everyone else was to see Rafferty save a penalty, thought their pen was a dead cert. Please to see him stop it, must be practicing them now. Galway were a bit wise to his roaming forward and he was almost caught a few times, it is becoming too predictable and opposition teams will look for a way to get the ball in those positions.

Were Galway using the kick out strategy we were using in the league last year?

Sunday was just great. I don't need to tell anybody here that we don't follow Armagh for the glory. We do so because they are our team. And every once in a while they have it in them to give any team in the land, a bloody nose. It's probably why we travel so often in hope more than expectation. Sunday was one such day. That Galway side was being talked up a lot (including by myself) as potential All Ireland Champions. However we went toe to toe with them and deservedly come out on top. Yes, I thought we had a wee bit of luck on the day but I don't care about that. We're more than due that, and so is Geezer as a manager and I'm delighted that the critics get a couple of weeks off. It was an excellent team performance but for me Forker shaded Murnin for our Man of the Match, with Soupy and Grugan excellent throughout and Crealey having an excellent second half. But there were solid performances everywhere, with the performance built on character and self belief.

I don't mind telling you that very late on I thought we would do well to get a draw, but my hope now is that that the nature of that win will instil a hell of a lot of heart and confidence into the team for the All Ireland quarter final coming up. We saw out a very tight game when we were beginning to get a reputation for not being able to do so. The fact that we will have a two week gap - when our opponents will be playing their third game in three weekends - also has to be a major plus.

It was a hell of a victory for us. At my age, my post match forays out on to the pitch are saved for only the most exhilarating of finishes and Carrick-on-Shannon more than met the threshold!! Just wonderful!

Up Armagh!!

Don't worry I have emailed them to tell them next time he has to be named in the forward line
Apparently your email started an official investigation and having looked at the video evidence and comments on this forum they can't decide if he's a forward or a back or even a footballer at all. They put it to hawkeye which came back with Tá-il!

A hearing is set for next week and if he can't explain himself they're just going to ban him for ever.
