I swear I was just thinking the same thing and near pee'd when you posted that :D

Father Fitzpatrick always comes to mind whenever I heart O'Rourke talk. I had a Welsh friend watch their first GAA game last week and he was providing the analysis...his voice was the first thing they picked up on.

I think Fitzmaurice is more monotone than O’Rourke.

Jarly og had a great game today as did Aidan Nugent and T Kelly, thought he was unfortunate to come of at the half. Rian O’Neills yellow card was very harsh, great game though and haven’t seen as big a crowd in AG in a long time.

I see the attendance is given as 14,328. It is always unclear whether this is the number paid in or the number there. However, it seemed to me that the Athletic Grounds was full, even on TV it was apparent that the terraces were full and the stand certainly was. What was the biggest league crowd for a league game at home before?

It is a shame the melee has overshadowed a decent football match from our perspective at least. Forgot how hard it is to focus when you really want to hammer the sh*te out of Tyrone be it the McKenna cup, the NFL or the championship. Not long ago we were targeting easier opposition for points but we have taken out two of the biggest hitters in the division. Who would have thought it, we had to start our league campaign against the two toughest opponents in the league and on both occasions, we have won convincingly and there is still huge room for improvement.

When you look at our wins so far we are scoring 2-16 and 2-14 (in both of those games we scored 2-8 in 35 minutes, in one of those games we didn't score for 12 minutes). We have the likes of Murnin and O. O'Neill to return who are only going to up our scores. If they can come back into the team, it is obviously going to come at a cost to other players but whoever is or is not replaced our bench is a like for like swap in quality. I am not going to get carried away as it is only February but I doubt we have peaked like some would suggest, it is scary to think what we will be like come the championship.

We haven't had this air of optimism around the team for the best past of 15 years since the crushing defeat to Kerry in 2006 and the guy who undone us that day is one of the guys building us back up. It genuinely feels like we are back - not coming, not making our way but are back.

What a time to be an Armagh supporter!

We got no real credit on the Sunday Game, Eamon Fitz waffling on about us being better conditioned than other team, and we won't fair as well when they catch up with us.

What nonsense, these guys are actually getting paid

Whatever the year holds we are at last competitive with the big boys. Someone mentioned 2006 and that is the last time we were serious contenders for Sam. A long wait. If you look at Armagh's history it is long periods in the wilderness interspersed with a few periods in the sun. Hopefully we are beginning a period in the sun.

‘Contributing to a melee’ seems to be the reason for red cards, so his call may have been correct. Although that’s easy to say when it was Tyrone who got 4 of them. Had it been us, I’d be calling him all sorts.

Anyway, with so much going on, it was difficult to see just who deserved reds and who didn’t. I’m just glad he didn’t even up the reds for each side, as that’s usually the case with these incidents.
