Armagh Ladies

While there is justifiable enthusiasm for the men's team who are top of their Div 2 by one point score difference,, it has rather overshadowed the Ladies who are top of Div 1.
Well done!

Ref making this a hard watch. We gifted them 2 goals and missed 2 chances ourselves. Going to be a tight finish.

Great to see an Armagh team lift a trophy in Croke Park, and a very well deserved win. Only real threat was themselves and a bit of self sabotage.

When in full flow, it's incredible how far Aimee Mackin is ahead of everyone else on the pitch. Extraordinary footballer. Good supporting cast too though, and it looks like they still have room to improve heading into the championship. Probably should've won by double figures had they the shooting boots on.

Refs can make the ladies game very start stop. Think if they aloud a slight bit more contact and therefore a more free flowing game then the interest in the sport will peak even more than it has been doing

Great stuff. Kelly Mackin and Aimee Mackin were fearsome in attack

Was listening to BBC Radio 5 Live a few weeks back. Colin Murray was talking to mostly Norn Iron based ‘celebrities’ and callers about their favourite and most inspirational Irish sporting icons. Fair bit of chat about Georgie Best, Pat Jennings, Mary Peters and Rory McElroy. But delighted when they spent a fair bit of time interviewing the McGee sisters from Antrim (who also play professional Netball) who paid tribute to our own Caroline O’ Hanlon. Quite rightly, paid tribute to her dedication, skill, approachability and classy way she goes about it all. The point was well made that she is a Gaelic player. Brilliant.

Caroline was outstanding yesterday, her experience showed in the second half. What a superior athlete she is, a true inspiration

As others have noted the ladies game would be a much better spectacle if the contact rules were the same as the men's game. Most of the frees would never have been called in men's football. Selling itself short with the present rule interpretation.

Or maybe the typical woman’s body isn’t as durable as a man’s and the rules are made to suit.

I think it flows quite well-not sure if increased physicality would improve the game. AFLW for examples is an awful watch-like watching seagulls fight over a discarded bag of chips on a Portrush beach. Would be better having contact rules that favour basic footy skills
Think the stop clock in Ladies Football is genuis.
