Armagh Ladies

I see their Ulster final is in Owenbeg on Sunday week.
Good location probably about half way between the two teams and can hold the few thousand that'll turn up.

I see their chairperson going on about second class citizens and integration is as far away as ever
Very thoughtful and inciteful words.

Last minute change to venue. I think she has a point

Surely the first class facilities in Owenbeg are better than the non existent facilities in Clones?
Not exactly last minute if the final is ten days away

Like all issues there's two stories and then there's the truth.

Ladies always have been and will continue to be treated this way until there is full integration with the GAA. The simple truth is that GAA own a majority of the pitches in the country and can decide where games are played. The chairperson is right, the work that woman has done for this county in ladies football is phenomenal, most people don't even realise where she has taken the ladies from. Owenbeg definitely favours Donegal now who don't have to make the long trip to clones but I think this Armagh team have an all ireland in them. They will be hard stopped.

Suggested the pitch was booked mid March. Changing 10 days before final is last minute for those trying to organise pitches, buses etc..

Presumably it's a case of telling the bus company that they're going to a different place.
Id assume there's another side to this story
There's a lot of teams sitting at present not knowing where their 3rd round neutral game is going to be played. Can't all be second class citizens

Just come straight out & say you're not a fan of Ladies football.

Have to agree with Joe here to be honest.

I've no doubt if the shoe was on the other foot and mens teams requested the use of the new training facilities at Killean the chairperson may not be so open. It goes both ways.

If you really want to be pedantic about it, it's only through the goodwill of the GAA that the LGFA are afforded the ability to play matches on their grounds.

I suspect this isn't just a black and white issue.

They are trying to integrate both bodies. This is some way to support that.

If last weeks Ulster Final had to be moved with 10 days notice there would have been an outcry. Clones was the designated venue for a ladies Ulster Final. The pitch had been booked. To then change for a senior club league game shows a complete lack of respect to all ladies, including those that work tirelessly at our GAA clubs.

I can also say that I am male, have no daughters, have no sisters, daughter in laws or anyone involved in ladies GAA. I just think the decision is misogynistic.

Was it too much for you to say hard luck to Armagh Ladies today rather than try to belittle Onlookers earlier post?

I would agree with Onlookers assessment of the Armagh Ladies team.
That result today was bit of a shock and must be very dissapointing for the team and supporters.
Hope they get the chance to get revenge

The hard luck term is a load of bollocks in my opinion, they rely so much on Aimee Mackin their clearly not as good as you & Onlookers think they are

Did you take pleasure in Armagh Ladies getting beaten today because it gave you a chance to come on the forum and try to be a smartarse with respect to somebodys earlier (and reasonable) post?

Nothing to do with disagreeing opinions and whether or not Armagh are dependent on Aimee Makin (what does that matter anyhow?)

That was team representing our county, having trained hard and just lost an Ulster Final-and you think they are not worthy of some sort of statement of support or encouragement?

Instead, all you saw was as an opportunity to go on this forum and make fun of another posters opinion of the team-that was more important to you
Classy

Looks like the injury to Aimee Mackin had a big input but maybe, just maybe, the media actions of their chairperson played on the minds of all the players.
Regardless of where a game is played the grass is green, goalposts, and two teams will be there
Maybe, just maybe, the issue over venue could have been done behind the scenes and after the game. Once the venue was changed it wasn't going back.

It means everything if they want too improve & want too win All Ireland, I wasn't making fun off anyone if you think this team are All Ireland contenders then you are deluded

You're deflecting. Aimee Mackin has NOTHING to do with the fact you can't bring yourself to express hard luck or some form of commiseration/encouragement to an Armagh team. More important to you was trying to be a smartarse with respect to Onlookers post.
What was deluded of me was the time I wasted engaging with you. Dick
