Same here but I know his dad and he left because of the constant abuse he got on the old forum. What are/were the thoughts on Annaghmore Goalkeeper McNiece? I’ve always thought he was a decent option. Good shot stopper.

See Paul hearty on Twitter saying are keepers only there to kick the ball out? What if they want to get involved in an attacking move up the field! Trying to tinker with the game far too much it’s just another rule for a referee to get in a muddle overVery different game now Pat to be fair.
Hearty was maligned at times as well for launching it over the sideline (not my criticism, just highlighting it's a universal thing with keepers)
Totally agree with giving the other team the kickout, baffles me. It's an "arse about face" way of counteracting keepers with accurate long kickouts by hoping they go very short and you're able to push up to stop the opposition crossing your 45. Only problem is that by conceding the kickout you give a natural overlap.
Personally, I love a well worked short kickout, but by that I mean a keeper clipping it to chest 45/50 yards out, not 12 yard to the full back! That was the original cluxton/durkan mode that set off the era of the keeper positively influencing the game imo. Beggan and the current Donegal keeper Patton are superb at it and it's great to see (beggan doesn't even use a cone). Unfortunately it's been bastardised by overthinking and the powers that be look like they are going to press ahead with the "lump up the middle" by hook or by crook.
Going off topic now but if you watch TG4 gold, the era of man for man and the high fielding midfielder has been greatly exaggerated in its quality for the spectator by certain lobbyists. Restricting the keepers influence (talking about a soccer-esque pass back rule now) is a joke
I’d love to know how many scores we conceded when we conceded the kick outVery different game now Pat to be fair.

My issue with Saturday was the two goals he conceded. The first one he really should have saved. The second one he was out of position. McLoughilin miskicked it. If Hughes was in position he saves that.Think Blaine gets a lot of harsh criticism, but suppose it’s the same with all keepers in any sport. Fair play to the lad, came into the panel when there were no other keepers available and had a great year. He’s still young and learning all the time.
Read in the Irish examiner report on the match that he made 80% of his kick outs vs mayo, but as with all keepers the negatives are more evident. His shot stopping is usually excellent but was unlucky vs mayo, has saved our skin many times the last 3 years.
Main thing he needs is competition as he has the tooos to be a great keeper. Main thing to work on is quick decision making but that comes with experience.
I wouldn’t blame them either. Criticism is alright as far as I am concerned. Outright abuse not so muchIf true I’d be very disappointed, hadn’t heard that but I’d take your word on it.
That’s the problem with online fan forums, it’s great to hear the differing opinions of fans from around the county but if we are affecting our own players in that way then you do have to question how beneficial the forums are.
Several players have told me they consciously avoid ever looking at this forum which is probably very sensible.
Will find out tomorrowhttps://twitter.com/irishnewssport/status/1146521469905702912?s=19 anyone know who the former player is

Unless it’s his brother whom the county board go for I think it would be a backward step. Two years ago I would’ve said get rid but the improvement is there so the next move is very important

If Hughes was in position he saves that. Thought kickouts were fine. Keeper always gets the blame when they go wrong which I think is unfair as often it is the outfield player who is at fault
