That missed pen hasn’t helped
Definitely not. After missing the penalty things started to fall apart a little...or perhaps it was tiredness from the five subs that were made. Unfortunately we are not going to win all our matches and put on sparkling performances week in and week out.
I am not going to be too critical but I think McGeeney has finally realised our defence is not that great and it is why we had to use the blanket defence. These tactics will not work against Donegal. There were a number of forced changes in that game which would have contributed to our FBs tiring out at the end - they cannot be helped. We were way too nervous at the start of the game and if we want to start making big strides this has to change.
Watching the last 15 minutes of that game was incredibly frustrating, Tyrone held on to the ball but we made too many wrong decisions. I thought Donaghy was brought in to make sure forwards make the right choices? These changes aren't going to be instant but we missed two points in the last 10 minutes that we really needed. If Tyrone and Monaghan draw and we lose then we are back down to division 2 on points difference.
