If management feel playing in a preseason competition isn’t the best preparation for the league fair enough, the baffling thing is why field at all? Have they intentions of fielding a stronger team against Tyrone, if not just a waste of everyone’s time.
Prediction:
DL: 4-20
ARM: 0-02
I think the optics of pulling out wouldn't be great and more disrespectful than fielding an u20 side. U20 management must be happy enough and prob see it as a good chance to sort the men from the boys and see who stands up in what will be the face of adversity. For context, last year this team started against cavan;
Armagh: E Rafferty, G McCabe, A McKay, R Finn, C O’Neill (0-1), B McCambridge, J Óg Burns (0-1), S Campbell (0-1), S Sheridan, J Sheridan, C Cumiskey, T Kelly, R Grugan (0-3f), C Turbitt, A Nugent (0-2)
Although there was 11 subs made at half time, we only scored one score the entire second half and this place was up in arms. a few comments;
can safely say we are worse off now after that game. New players need to be blended in to the team along with the experienced so they can learn from them. If I were one of the new batch that came on at HT I would now be thinking I'm miles away instead of building my confidence. How can any team make so many changes and expect to retain the flow of the game.
I'm not normally this critical but this was a very stupid decision by the management.
As for learning from the competition, we got zero. Very, very disappointed and annoyed.
By the way, McGeeney does need to take supporters into consideration, if it wasn't for us he would not be in a job. The Armagh support goes a long way to help the team.
That was terrible, very bad management decision to put out so many subs at a time.
What did they learn from that nothing!! Poor lads no leaders! They learn from the experience played! And they were on the bench. A draw would have ment so much more to the young players.
Disappointed in the management decision
Shocking decision from management. McKenna cup game where spectators have travelled to and paid to watch and they decide to pull that stunt. Surely intercounty friendlies is the time and place to ‘give players a run’ where it’s behind closed doors. Paid a 10er to watch on tv and feel scamed, can’t imagine those who travelled a hour down the road on a cold wet January feel.
This year they have saved everyone a trip in advance, think of the fuel and ticket savings
Point is, dammed if ya do dammed if ya don't. Its only a preseason friendly comp, and maybe they've been working on new things and don't want to show their hand, something the u20s wont be privy too. Same old thing this time every year, people need to relax. Business starts end of the month.
