A few mentions today in commentary on tv and radio of a few black eyes on players in the squad. Geezer said he had one too.

Anyone know about these or the background??

This 100%.

Plenty of tweeters echoing the same sentiments about who should and shouldn't be playing.

If a fella was on the panel, fully deserving of a place based on training sessions and challenge/in house games etc. he'd be starting.

And if that wasn't the case through inept management or favoritism, I highly doubt said player would be dedicating 5/6 days a week to training and gyms sessions for the sake of being a clinger on to a county panel where they'd theoretically have no prospect of getting football. Hardly worth it for a bit of free gear, it's not the U15 development squad we're talking about.

I was accused of being a 'yes man,' unintelligent and had a few other bits flung at me for my opinions, and thankfully I'm thick skinned enough to laugh it off.

Do I think the management are devoid of criticism? Absolutely not. Do I think they could have made some better decisions this season? In some games and situations, yes. They're far from perfect.

But people talk about progress. We were in Division 3 not that long ago. We've made slow and steady progress. Not rapid enough for some. There were 7 years between McGeeney coming in and our last Ulster Final. Chopping and changing managers was of no benefit then. We went from a yoyo Div 2/3 side to competing in D2 and ultimately 3 years in Division 1.

Tony McEntee is a prime example of someone on a similar trajectory. 3 years he's been in Sligo before the first incremental reward. We'd a promotion, relegation and promotion in that time frame under Kieran and continued to move forward.

So again, to summarise, management haven't been perfect. And won't ever be no matter who is there. But find a better alternative to a group of men who love their county, and players who openly talk in interview about how they'd die for them and I'll certainly listen to the suggestion.
No doubt about it the loyalty he gets and his motivational skills , Daniel Flynn Interview with the BBC sounds podcast will tell you all about this . Tactics and vision to change a game are probably his downfall . In saying that is isnt an obvious successor either again the debate is pointless at the moment as their is zero chance of a change until the end of the year .

Is this a joke?
He gave a free against us for overcarrying at one stage when the player had dropped the ball about 5 seconds earlier and we certainly didn't get the soft frees Tyrone received, the direct opposite in fact. Cassidy is one of the worst referees in the country and always has been.

Oh come on. So based on that one decision, you think he's had a bad performance?

The umpire was in the best position to judge that kick, and signalled it wide. I don't think you can hold a referee who is stood 50 yards away accountable for that error.
He would have been in an ideal position and could have overruled the linesman. Philly McMahon was pretty good on commentary and even called it.

PS. He was not the reason we lost.

Yes thought he gave them some very soft frees

The way it was expressed was unwarranted in my opinion , however they are plenty that have the same point of view that management have not got the most out of this team and presiding over relegation and finishing behind Monaghan and Roscommon in the league is well below what I think this team is capable of , however its done now and we need to regroup and focus on the championship , this is ultimately how the season will be judged.

The ref was grand, barring the free he gave against campbell for over carrying. FFS people, we cant always go blaming the ref

Reading the forum is gas tonight
For what it’s worth we were better today than most other games this season which isn’t saying much
Some pluses were that we kicked the ball
And some senior players at last showed some spirit
Minuses
Kinda chuckled at how Tyrone kicked some beauties over our much vaunted defence and we still didn’t ( save for Aidan) try any from distance..
Also felt Tyrone got their scores fair easier than we did as in we have too many players who can’t kick easy scores at this level.
Disappointed at Cian and Shane getting 3minutes what was that about.
Murnin getting injured
League this season tactically has been poor , I think we all can agree but we need an ulster final and a decent run in the all Ireland if we get there.
At end of the season then we can look at where we are management wise .
Antrim lost heavily so hopefully it’s the game that kick starts the summer .

I only mentioned one decision I didn't say that was all I based it on. Tyrones first 2 scores came from frees where McCurry dived( or as a man behind me put it 'He was horizontal like superman before he was even tackled' then he gave Canavan a free after he took about 12 steps.
Do you want me to continue for the remaining 65 minutes of the match?

Looking at this forum I always wonder how many people have actually played the game. People have been crying all year for the game to be opened up and kicked we did today and conceded far too much. Division 1 is difficult of course it is! Disappointing to lose but every game we have been in and it’s just that lack of composure/quality like having a Clifford Walsh etc. geezer will be under pressure with most expecting an ulster final-very capable but ain’t going to be easy! I personally believe if he doesn’t get to ulster final he might leave at the end of the year. But what would I know

This week has been ridiculous with rumours and people thinking they know something- reality is very little comes out of the Armagh camp so take everything with a pinch of salt!

Final point- I keep reading he should be playing, it’s a joke he isn’t playing. Should we not be trusting a man who is seeing them 4 times a week instead of joe blogs who seen him score 6 points against his club team last week? He has everyone on the panel that’s good enough in the county.

Disappointing day but it’s not the end of the world let’s hope for a good few months
He has everyone on the panel that’s good enough in the county, I'm sure a few on here would disagree with you on that
