So you accept his post was 'out of order' and your first post on the matter was to challenge me for criticising it?
Yes your honour , I was challenging you for throwing back his quote a number of posts ago which I thought was a bit silly , I beg for forgiveness and to see the light in the future if this has caused you offence while trying to make a point on some silly posts , which this debate between us is a prime example of .

Yes, strange how unwarranted criticism can get you becoming embroiled in a spat on a discussion forum. Who'd have thought, eh?

The way it was expressed was unwarranted in my opinion , however they are plenty that have the same point of view that management have not got the most out of this team and presiding over relegation and finishing behind Monaghan and Roscommon in the league is well below what I think this team is capable of , however its done now and we need to regroup and focus on the championship , this is ultimately how the season will be judged.

There is some sanctimonious shite posted on this forum and it is not in line with the opinion of the majority of the population of the county. I have yet to speak to anyone this year who thinks the management are doing a good job yet on here it's as if this is just a minor blip. This is a disastrous day for Armagh, getting to division 1 is very difficult and losing that status today could have long reaching consequences. But sure that's dead on, let's not rock the boat. I'm normally quite a passive person but today just pressed all my buttons not least the reaction on here.

You came on here saying ‘McGeeney pack your f*****g bags’. Not exactly passive. And as was said, needless. You are more than capable of saying the same in a better way

@Diarmi you have been a poster here a long time and I have always had time for yourself and remember your excitement and your trouble with your bowels on the week in the build up to the Galway game , I know you probably live and breathe Armagh and are disappointed as you think the team can do better , However no matter what hurt we feel ( you should have heard me shouting at the radio today the people in the next hotel room probably think that I've just got out of the asylum) , the management do their best , McGeeney definitely gives 100% , it might not be good enough at times , however they are only human like us all and deserve respect and we probably need to remember that in our comments, that all I'm going to say on the matter .

I was livid last week, this week my expectations were tempered somewhat and there was an inevitability about being relegated.

The optimist in me thinks relegation could be a blessing in disguise and gives everyone a good old kick up the hole and we start playing to our strengths again. Settle the differences, play the best available regardless of who has been on the panel and for how long (If the two year rule is true I think it is kind of pathetic) and play football.

I don't think that Tyrone have a much better calibre of Player compared to us , last year we also had a massive spread of scorers in our games example against Tyrone below 2022 championsip below

Scorers for Armagh: A Nugent (1-1), R O’Neill (0-4, 3f), E Rafferty, S Campbell, A Murnin (0-2 each), C O’Neill, S Sheridan, R Grugan, J Duffy, C Turbitt (0-1 each)

Scorers for Tyrone: D McCurry (0-7, 4f, 1 mark), C McKenna (1-0), P Harte, C Kilpatrick, R Donnelly (0-1 each)
I think that's the big difference this year we don't get the spread of scores I mind last year we had 10+ scorers a game, now nothing wrong with having 3 or 4 just scoring but I think we are kicking more wides than last year

Looking at this forum I always wonder how many people have actually played the game. People have been crying all year for the game to be opened up and kicked we did today and conceded far too much. Division 1 is difficult of course it is! Disappointing to lose but every game we have been in and it’s just that lack of composure/quality like having a Clifford Walsh etc. geezer will be under pressure with most expecting an ulster final-very capable but ain’t going to be easy! I personally believe if he doesn’t get to ulster final he might leave at the end of the year. But what would I know

This week has been ridiculous with rumours and people thinking they know something- reality is very little comes out of the Armagh camp so take everything with a pinch of salt!

Final point- I keep reading he should be playing, it’s a joke he isn’t playing. Should we not be trusting a man who is seeing them 4 times a week instead of joe blogs who seen him score 6 points against his club team last week? He has everyone on the panel that’s good enough in the county.

Disappointing day but it’s not the end of the world let’s hope for a good few months

Any word on Crealey? Is he injured or just taking the year out?
He was back training this week, questions of the manger can wait until the end of the season. He has been there a long time but from what I hear is if he left a few players would go too, that is also the way Kildare players felt, he definitely gets the players on side and we know from the years he has been in charge it's attacking football that he prefers to play, a week break and then onto Antrim and a positive result could change everything,

Hate this mentality.

This 100%.

Plenty of tweeters echoing the same sentiments about who should and shouldn't be playing.

If a fella was on the panel, fully deserving of a place based on training sessions and challenge/in house games etc. he'd be starting.

And if that wasn't the case through inept management or favoritism, I highly doubt said player would be dedicating 5/6 days a week to training and gyms sessions for the sake of being a clinger on to a county panel where they'd theoretically have no prospect of getting football. Hardly worth it for a bit of free gear, it's not the U15 development squad we're talking about.

I was accused of being a 'yes man,' unintelligent and had a few other bits flung at me for my opinions, and thankfully I'm thick skinned enough to laugh it off.

Do I think the management are devoid of criticism? Absolutely not. Do I think they could have made some better decisions this season? In some games and situations, yes. They're far from perfect.

But people talk about progress. We were in Division 3 not that long ago. We've made slow and steady progress. Not rapid enough for some. There were 7 years between McGeeney coming in and our last Ulster Final. Chopping and changing managers was of no benefit then. We went from a yoyo Div 2/3 side to competing in D2 and ultimately 3 years in Division 1.

Tony McEntee is a prime example of someone on a similar trajectory. 3 years he's been in Sligo before the first incremental reward. We'd a promotion, relegation and promotion in that time frame under Kieran and continued to move forward.

So again, to summarise, management haven't been perfect. And won't ever be no matter who is there. But find a better alternative to a group of men who love their county, and players who openly talk in interview about how they'd die for them and I'll certainly listen to the suggestion.

Also, thought Cassidy had a solid performance in the middle of the pitch. Allowed the game to flow and prioritised player welfare.
Is this a joke?
He gave a free against us for overcarrying at one stage when the player had dropped the ball about 5 seconds earlier and we certainly didn't get the soft frees Tyrone received, the direct opposite in fact. Cassidy is one of the worst referees in the country and always has been.

Not to forget the point that should have been and that he signalled a foul on burns only to allow play to continue.

Without having any personal insight at all, save for what I pick up from speaking to others, this is something that I have alluded to in the past when others have been asking for Geezer to be replaced. The nature of his management seems to be based on excellent man management that helps to develop absolute loyalty and commitment from the players, which is central to many important players continuing to commit. This has to be a consideration when discussing management.
