Other top teams have workhorse players, but none are completely terrified to shoot or even kick the ball the way Hall is. Simple hard work cannot be enough to justify his place in the starting 15.

McQuillan shows something every time he’s brought on. Can’t understand what he has to do to get more than 10 minutes.

Forker, Campbell, and Grugan have been the county’s 3 stalwarts over the years, but all 3 have been awful so far. Forker never had pace to begin with, but seems to be even slower this year. Forwards are nearly 10 years younger than him now and anyone with pace is going to destroy him.
I expect Campbell and Grugan to be fine but the Soupy midfield experiment needs to end now. If they can get Oisin O’Neill or Grimley fit they’re obvious starters as they need a fetcher in midfield

There's not much to agree with in this post. Hall came up at club and county underage as a scoring forward. He has two good feet and isn't afraid to shoot, he is 100% doing what he is told to do. If McGeeney and the management team are watching him in training 3-5 times a week and they're happy to put him in then that should be good enough for us. The same in reverse with McQuillan - we should all know by now that McGeeney doesn't give a shit about throwing someone in and if Ross was training well enough he'd be starting, or get more than 10mins.

It's also a bit mad to suggest that Soupy has been awful so far, he won us the game in Blaney and his direct running got us between 3 and 4 scores against Mayo. Again, the management team are not stupid, they know he isn't an intercounty 'fetcher' type midfielder. He's there to get us up the pitch, which he does fairly well. If Rian had played him in properly on Sunday he'd have bagged a goal and we'd likely have gotten a result.

Something similar for Grugan, he's crucial to how Armagh play, never wastes a ball, one of the best left footed free takers (inside 45m) in Ireland and as a former captain clearly a great leader. Crucial scores in every game.

Am getting tired typing now but Forker has also contributed massively to the 3 points we do have on the board (he won that free at the end v Mayo). He's a leader on the pitch, is no longer a red card risk, offers more physicality than anyone else bar perhaps Morgan and is completely crucial (along with Grugan and Rian) to how Armagh play againt packed defences.

In short McGeeney would be mad to drop Soupy, Grugan or Forker and he won't drop them because he's not.

Have a cup of green tea or something before you watch us against Kerry mate.

Forker has been great for years and I didn't notice him being bad at all so far this year, Grugan hasn't been in the form as last year but he is vital for our team, for me Campbell scored 2 amazing points against Monahan at crucial times but was poor that whole game as where most of the team tbf and against mayo he got on loads of ball and worked hard and did alot of good things but felt he ran into trouble alot, he runs past guys and then instead of passing runs abit too long and gets caught but although iv been critical of him think he is and will be massive for us, hall is a tough one for me because he works hard and is important because you can't have a forward line full of silky scorers that don't work, the most important thing for me is not getting more injuries because Antrim is 7 or 8 weeks away which will come around quick, so as soon as safety is secure I think we should get minutes in our squads legs by mixing it up everyone here talks about our strong squad so now is the time to see it

Forker is excellent on the ball very controlled and a great leader. He shouldn’t be dropped. Although I think he needs moved out to half back line. He just doesn’t have the pace for the full back line anymore and it’s been evident this year

Trains every couple of hours Saturday afternoon from Killarney to Tralee, but last train out of Tralee is 7.05pm. You’d have to leave straight after the match to catch it.

There is a bus at 21:40 route 14.
They really should have had a special train going back to Armagh, given that accommodation is scarce. I don't know if this was considered.

I am hoping to go back to Dublin on the 19:05 train, if there are some people only going to Killarney then that might suit as I can get their seat there!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, if you disagree with his that's fair, but doesn't mean others are necessarily wrong. I agree with some of what you and also some of what he says. I am Geezers biggest fan, and neither here nor there about Hall but wouldn't go overboard criticising him as some do.... However players have good spells and bad spells, all players do. IMO Hall is in a bad spell. Managers can also get decisions wrong. In this case I think majority would and have a right to question how Hall starts and McQuillan isn't. Training is only one aspect and its ultimately about what you do on a Sunday that counts, I don't buy the whole we don't see what goes on in training. Sure, its a factor, but dont let him cloud your judgement about you see on matchday. I have played with many who were great trainers but couldnt take that through to a Sunday, and vice versa. Sometimes its a fine line between loyalty, trust, and blind loyalty. Time to freshen it up, play the boys on the fringes who feel they should be starting......and see who is ready to take their chance in the lions den on Saturday night

I didn't post after the first two games so don't want to be too critical of Sunday's game.

There are a lot of positives around armagh at the minute, notably

- Athletic Grounds. The stadium in general, the atmosphere and the fantastic armagh support
- Jarlath being elected. Absolutely brilliant for him, silverbridge and armagh. Well deserved
- Armagh matches generally are very entertaining and we often play an attractive style of football
- players returning from long term injuries, notably niall Grimley, Ross mcquillan, ciaran mackin

Sunday's match reminded me of our typical ulster championship opener. That's not a compliment. Clueless and tactically inept.

I wouldn't be too critical of forker, grugan or Campbell. All quality players who should be back to top form soon. Grugan needs to play further up the pitch and get himself on more ball. Frustrating to see grugan, turbitt and murnin inside our own 21 so often.

I think we need more from jarly og. He can't defend and seems unable to win primary possession at a time when we seem to struggle at midfield in every game. His sole role seems to be carrying the ball down the left hand sideline.

I believe Ross McQuillan is an exceptional talent. We would have been in an AI final last year if he had have been available for the galway match. Whilst I think he should have got slightly more time on the pitch on Sunday it's vital we have him come championship time.

Regarding relegation or a league title, all options are viable as we continue to show we are capable of beating the very best but have the potential to get beat by average sides.

Hard to argue with much of that! Massive step up needed now for rest of the year if we are serious about staying in division one and doing anything in Ulster and beyond. I’ve full confidence we are capable of it.

I'm currently watching our match back ("maybe I like the misery"). Unless it is shown later why did Rian get the yellow card for the Niall Daly incident? It looked as though it was Jemar standing over him in the ground. Also classy behaviour from the Roscommon doctor  & then reenacting what he did to the others on the sideline, seriously what age is he?!?!!!!

He really did that?!

I’ve yet to hear anyone even mention what that doctor did to Jemar. Player (and official) safety is paramount, yet this was conveniently swept under the carpet.

As @Big Jim said, you can’t throw the medic off the sideline, for obvious reasons. But this incident, if not addressed (and it hasn’t been, nor won’t be), this is a dangerous precedent to set, as we’ll likely see more of the same. Medics coming on to rile up, abuse and try to provoke a reaction to get opposing players sent off.

I did see the physio making the gesture to other members of Roscommon backroom team on the sideline.

He made gesture of pushing somebody in the face. At the time I thought he had been gesturing this was what he thought an armagh player did to the roscommon

Think the whole system of how people enter and leave the field at will somteimes, needs reviewed. That includes players, staff, waterboys and even supporters.

I have 2 rooms booked in a B&B on Saturday that I can't use now. Let me know if anyone wants them asap before I cancel them. Walking distance to the field.

Fair play to you folks. Generosity is still immense in our county. We may not agree on everything, but we will still look after each other if we can!

Do we have any other options in midfield? We seem very light there at the minute. What about McPartland from Clan na Gael?
