Thought today was an efficient performance. Coming out for the second half 5 up, a man up and down the hill Armagh kept the score board ticking over and kept goal chances for Tipperary to a minimum. On occasions the crowd got on the teams back for continually recycling the ball but in my opinion it was Tipperary who needed to come looking the ball. Armagh were well ahead and going gung ho could have left them open on the counter attack. We have lost enough leads. I felt defence was solid and Vernon and Hall played well. Grimley had his best outing in a while.
Happens far too often with Armagh supporters. Aul fellas roaring at the team if they pass it sideways or backways and shouting “kick it in”. To who exactly??? They’d drive you nuts!

Imagine what it’s gonna be like against Fermanagh. We (the collective we) are going to need patience against them.

I'm still not happy we are closing games out the way we should. We made some stupid mistakes at crucial times, simple things like using the boot instead of fist passing. Paul Hughes made a number of these but I will put it down to him just getting back to match fitness.
I noticed Hughes do it w couple times but he had a good game. It’s a positive having him back

Excellent win today against a Tipp team, yes missing a few players, that beat Donegal.

The win was most important, 2pts added to the tally.
I thought Aaron McKay, Paul Hughes, Greg McCabe, Niall Grimley, Charlie, Jemar and Rian ONeill were best with Aaron McKay my motm.
A few sore players coming off today but what a strong bench to have.
I do believe that Rian ONeill should plau CHF and I do think he will become one of the top,top players in Ireland. He has the physique, speed, passing and shooting ability. Glad he plays for us.

Donegal will be hurting after their two losses but regardless of who they bring in a team in a rut usually finds it difficult to break out of it.
Huge game as a win would mean that winning the last two home games would mean promotion is possible.
Personally I don't understand why the last game v Cork is in Crossmaglen. I'd put it in Armagh especially if we are in the promotion hunt. The AG is our home ground and has far superior facilities.

I'd like to see the team push for promotion - you only get better by playing the better teams.
We have a raft of young players about to come into the team who would relish division one.

But first and foremost win the next game. I understand hotels are booked out so hopefully the Armagh support is there in big numbers.
Roadtrip!!!

Glad to see us get a much needed win today. It wasn't a performance that will live long in the memory but we did enough to win and get some more points on the board. I thought in the first half we played well in stages. We created some good opportunities with some inventive play, which was good to watch and which shows the ability we have. Defensively we looked solid enough. There were a few times when Tipp players looked like they could get in on goal, but we were able to get back and snuff out the danger. We should have been further ahead at half time and some of our finishing let us down. You'll never score from every opportunity, but there were some in the first half, Clarke's first effort especially which just have to be taken. That's the difference and small margins that separate the top teams from everyone else. Dean Rock, David Clifford, Shane Walsh, Conor McManus or Paddy McBrearty get a free shot like that in front of the posts, they score every time.

The second half was a non-starter really. We had a solid enough lead and were a man up and Tipp didn't look like they believed they could beat us. We also looked like we knew we had messed up with big leads in the last few games, so no one wanted to make a mistake, so the build up was very slow, with lots of recycling of the ball and possession play. We got scores when we needed them to keep us out of touch and unlike other games, we managed to kill off the game. There's plenty to work on, but there's many positives that can be taken from the game.

There were some impressive performances all over the field today. Aaron McKay marked Conor Sweeney out of the game. James Morgan looked far more disciplined and made some good tackles and won dirty ball. It was a good idea to take him off though and Ryan Kennedy did well when he came on. Paul Hughes looked good. Niall Grimley was immense today. Steven O'Brien is a top class midfielder but Grimley won that battle hands down. Sheridan too had a good game. Jemar Hall played well. I like how he keeps it simple for the most part (he should also never take the ball into contact as he gets turned over), but then can explode away through a small gap and grab a score. Charlie Vernon was solid throughout and made some big contributions throughout. He's a player that tends to get overlooked when it comes to naming our 'best' Armagh team, but he's incredibly consistent and seems to come up big when you need him. Even though he didn't score, I thought Clarke looked far more in tune with the rest of the team, linking up the play well.

Our forward line didn't quite click today and at times, there was only one man in the full forward line. I'm not sure if this was tactical or just players subconsciously dropping back to protect the lead. Campbell, O'Neill and Grugan had good moments throughout but we need them to be more consistent and have a greater return on the score board. Having Ethan Rafferty back will give us some more ammo up front which will be needed. I'm not expecting too much too soon, but he's a serious option to have as he can play in so many positions. It was also positive to see Brendan Donaghy back doing the warm up as we've missed his physicality and organisational skills in defence.

Brilliant to see a win. Much needed.

A few excellent performances - McKay, Hughes, Grimley, hall and O'Neill to name a few. Still loads of room for improvement which will be needed against Donegal next Saturday night. Soupy and Jamie still getting back up to the pace I believe.

Regarding Tipperary, I believe they are a poor side. As are Clare, Fermanagh and obviously cork. It would be brilliant to beat Donegal and meet Fermanagh in the athletic grounds in a fortnight with both sides going for promotion.

Very happy to get the win today. Lots to build on. Next week will be tough Donegal will be really looking to bounce back after two bad weeks. Was having a nosey on booking.com and seems hotels very popular for both Saturday and Sunday..are we planing another victory party? can we combine this with my birthday party?

Oh now there’s an idea!

I feel more confident getting a result in Donegal after Fermanagh won there today.

Not sure about that, apparently Michael Murphy was on the bench today and warmed up a couple of times so I would expect to see him next week!
If he gets good ball who's going to handle him???

Agree, and Gweedore guys would be available also! It could be a much stronger Donegal team than yesterdays!

Agree with many of the posts here - a win is a win, and that is the bottom line. It has to be warmly welcomed. The performance though was indifferent, to say the least. I thought we never, ever looked as if we were going to lose that game, once Tipp went down to 14 men, and I got the sense that that seeped into the players' subconscious, with the result that the remaining 45 - 50 minutes was absolutely turgid stuff.

I've said it before - as recently as the Meath game - and it is worth pointing out again; we have no killer instinct. That Tipp team should have been beaten by 12 + points yesterday. Instead our play was marked by laboured and ponderous build up, wrong options, misplaced passes and awful shooting. Imagine a Down team in their pomp - they'd have ratcheted up 5-15 yesterday.

Tipp offered very little and I'd be interested to see how many points they got from play. When the match was 15 against 15, we did have some lovely attacks, with the goal a case in point. A brilliant move which was excellently finished by Charlie. I would also make the point - as I was sat at up at the Dalton End of the ground - that I saw Jamie, Rian and Soupy make some lovely runs into space, which were crying out for a thirty yard kick pass from the player in possession, but the ball never came forward, as inevitably the player in possession would cut back into the middle. We need to try and move the ball forward that bit quicker when the option is there. Hopefully we will see more of that moving forward.

Our play staggers from being sublime one moment to pure WTF the next. Good signs are that in the first half, at times the movement going forward was excellent. Tackling overall was much better with McKay really growing into a very capable full back. Very impressed with the continued progress of Hall-his work rate and bravery are excellent. Rian's introduction to senior county football has been largely seamless-a few ill judged shoots, but this lad is already a star.
Second half was a bit shapeless. I think a big factor was Armagh being conscious of 'controlling' the game, drawing Tipp out of defence and generally avoiding a calamitous ending as with Kildare an Clare. I just don't think we are good at this. When we slow the game down, Armagh start to look uncertain. To be honest, when we start to play this recycling/possession game, Armagh don't look comfortable and I spent portions of that second half watching from behind my fingers. Fermanagh. Jaysus.
Nice tribute to John Morrison yesterday.

Just on another note. Enjoyed and appreciated the acknowledgements made yesterday at half time. Honestly-much, much deserved. So I am truly sorry for bringing this up, but....
For me, one of Dante's circles of hell is an eternal repeating loop of the 15 to 10 minutes preceding the start of an Armagh game at the Athletic Grounds. Those droning announcements drive me nuts. Makes me think of the sort of tactics used by the CIA to drive General Noriega out of his compound in Panama

What announcements were they?

You know, in all fairness they are probably the same as those made around most county grounds before a game. And honestly, believe me-I truly applaud any of our Gaels and time they volunteer for doing what they do. So this might be just a personal thing for me
But I just don't know-the voice just seems to go on and on and on.
