Today we saw the contrast of behaviour in the stand as much as on the field. When the Clare fella was being carried off after his horrific injury the crowd in the stand stood to applaud him off the field- hopefully to a full recovery. Then when the linesman made an incorrect decision objects were thrown at him. Disgraceful. Sadly the worst aspects of games we see on tv are infecting our game.
On the field this seems to be happening too. When the referee failed to protect a star player from a high challenge and niggling the player reacts. Red card deserved or not the diving holding your head when not touched there is disgraceful too. Last week the GAA decided that a collision tackle from Tony Kelly deserved the same punishment as what appeared to be eye gouging and simulation from a Roscommon player deserved the same punishment. Something is wrong.

As for the match. Armagh are getting closer. A few key decisions went against them today. Over the last few years this would have led to a big defeat. Today I thought Rian O'Neill showed he will be a great player. I felt Forker played well too. Hall and Grimley were everywhere. It was said earlier but we need Donaghy fit. I feel if he had have been there over the last 2 games we would have 4 points.

Thought rian oneill jemar and the two shane O’Neill boys where our stand out men today! I’d probably give Jemar Hall my motm.
why did management take Jemar of when he was playing well & armagh 4 up the game wasn't won at that stage

Because he was low on gas.

Which wasn't surprising as he had the engine going at high revs for the whole game.
Once again too many balls dropping short and wides that we should have been getting a higher percentage from, one would have been enough. However, our score might have done, we should not have leaked two goals.

Just heard that the pitch was frozen solid today and the Clare management wanted the game called off or moved after the inspection because they feared an injury. Seems they had a premonition which turned out accurate sadly!

Settling for a draw
Ah now I'm not so sure about that Bert. As others have already said the lad ran himself ragged and was clattered really hard more than once. I'd say he deserved the rest and absolutely highly deserved the ovation coming off.

Our inability to see out games is now a real problem. There's no way that we should have drawn that game. Doing it last week was disappointing, but we were only up by a point so there was a good chance that would happen. But to be winning by four with about two minutes left and to draw is criminal. I don't know how we go about fixing it, other than winning a couple of tight games, which we can't seem to do at the moment.

I thought that overall we were the better side, despite playing for a large part of the game with 14 men. We weren't clinical enough again, missing some easy enough scores and Vernon having a great goal chance saved. Clarke was rightly sent off and throwing his elbow back like that was stupid. He caught square in the face and could have no complaints. He knew as soon as he did it that it was bad and you could see by his protests that he was trying to convince the ref that he hadn't hit him in the way that he did. It had a major say in the game. While his marker was niggling at him, that's the treatment all top forwards get.

The slippy conditions really made it difficult for the players who were losing their footing and balls kept spilling from their hands. But we put together some good passages of play and worked some very impressive scores. I thought that Mackin had a good game. As did Aaron McKay until his stupid second yellow card. I thought Sheridan and Grimley did very well in containing the Clare midfield, especially Gary Brennan who is some athlete. That shoulder that Sheridan hit him with was great to see. Jemar Hall had a good game. He was busy, made some good runs, linked up well and scored some good points. He's very light which sometimes causes him problems when coming into contact. Rian O'Neill had an impressive second half. All the best to the Clare player who was injured. I didn't see what happened to him, but those screams were chilling and I hope he makes a full recovery.

There are positives that can be taken out of the game and last week's one too. We're more than able to compete in this league but what should have been the main positives, we've let slip . We should have four points yet only have two. To take the next step up, we have to win these types of games.

Are players just a team of bottlers? Some them clearly not good enough too!!
Which players do you think aren't good enough?

Think we need to work on the forward mark far more. We need to be making our height advantage count especially when Murnin and rafferty are back along with Oneill we have three serious ball catchers along with good feet to get scores. O’Neill got one today we should be making more from it

Don’t think that was anything to do with the pitch tho. Charlie landed awkwardly on him. A freak accident.

@Bert do you really think they were settling for a draw

Speaking of the mark did anyone else notice Grimley trying to claim a defensive mark

I see Fermanagh continue to suck every ounce of joy out of the game. 2-5 apiece today and similar last week. Can't wait for that game. We owe them though, that might add a bit of spice.
