Kept Monaghan to only 1-2 in the second half. Looking forward to the discussions later.

Congratulations to the team and management on a comfortable victory
I bet that was hard for you to say, you’re normally the first person on here McGeeney bashing. Aw well you may wait till next week

Just to add. The organisation at Clones yesterday was abysmal
It was awful. Terrible communication, needless long queues for the van to get tickets when people should have been advised to go down to the Gerry Arthur stand to get them and not opening the hill until the last minute.

Anyone know what the state of the injuries are? Morgan was injured in the week was he? Murnin looked like he did his hamstring again. Niall Grimley looked like he did something to his arm. Did Paddy Burns pick up a knock as well?

As for the draw tomorrow, I think I'm right in saying that the only teams that we can definitely be drawn away to are Westmeath and Offaly or Sligo. Because the rest of the teams left are in Division 1 or 2, we can get home advantage against any of them, if we get drawn out first? On the one hand, I'd love to see someone like Mayo, Kildare or Tyrone coming to the Athletic Grounds. It would be a massive crowd, a great occasion and real test for the team. The chance of making another statement win would be massive. On paper, getting Offaly or Sligo away would be best draw on paper. I wouldn't mind an away trip down to Clare to be honest! I've been planning to go at some point over the summer to the Cliffs of Moher, so could be a good way to do both!

I actually thought that relatively speaking the Stewards and Guards did a decent job. When Armagh played Fermanagh in the qualifiers two years ago the situation to get in to the terrace was disgraceful and the game should have been delayed but wasn’t. That day there were few to no stewards about and the road out of the terrace was a scary place to be particularly when throw in wasn’t pushed back and there was a bit of a surge to try and get in. I got to the ground at 6:50 yesterday and made it in for throw in (just). At no point was I concerned about being crushed. Officials deserve some credit for that and for delaying the throw in.

As for the injuries to players they are concerning. Would be a real pity of Murnin has hurt his hamstring again because that will likely be him for the season. Didn’t see Morgan yesterday so can’t comment on his fitness. From what I saw of Grimley I thought he got punched very hard in the gut or below and was taken off as precaution but again you never know. On that basis I’d rather avoid Tyrone or Mayo next week (also I’m unlikely to make it unless the game is the Sunday)

Fantastic win.

Monaghan were vulnerable. They haven’t got going in the championship and no surprise that Malachy has gone after 7 years. That said they are underperforming against their normal level but let’s not forget their normal level is Division 1 and the latter stages of the AI series. They beat the Dubs in the league. They still needed beat and we did that relatively comfortably. Stretching away in the part of the game we are normally reeled in.

I’m not one for facile runs in the qualifiers picking off Wicklow and Leitrim and glorying in an extended season but given a couple of injuries and a 7 or 8 day turnaround this might be a time for getting an easier draw and hoping that an extra week or 2 gets a few lads back.

But if we get Mayo in Castlebar then that’s where we gotta go and that’s what we gotta do

On a more comedic note. With about 15
Minutes gone in the second half. Rian O Neill kicked a very poor pass into the full forward line that was easily intercepted. Myself and my two traveling companions immediately decided that he had been our worst forward on the day and that if Geezer was going to make a sub it could very well be him. No wonder all I do is make the odd post here.

On a more serious note I honestly believe we scored 2-17 yesterday and yet can play a good deal better. That’s the talent on the team now. The engine and drive provided by Jarly Og has added at least 10 percent to what we had last year. His stamina is amazing. Just lift the head a little
More and he could be amazing. It would be incredibly sad if injuries were to derail us now. This run of games now also indicates how important it was to get to the ulster final. The run would have been so much easier. Great to see Aaron mc Kay back and performing so well. Never ever should have been dropped.

We are still terrible at closing out games Lol. Some of our play after Rians second goal was so so bad. The way Monaghan were
Set up we really should have won by 15/16. However maybe what happened was better as it may calm the hype train which has really started. The next game is deadly dangerous now especially if we are down bodies.

Funnily enough regarding ONeill. I thought it was his poorest performance to date. Until he scored. When you have a player of his ability in the field you don’t sub him tho

Not at all.

If you are managing a team and they aren't playing to their potential and feel it is the managers fault then the manager should be challenged. If the team play well and put in a result like that then management should be praised for it.

For a long time we have needed to defend and not just attack. It seems like yesterday we actually did very well in attack and defence.

When the team crosses the white line, there’s not a big pile the manager can do. It’s down to the players.

What a hell of a result , I wasn’t at the game and As o was at a function and was listening to the match on dodgy WiFi that was drifting in and out very stressful especially the two boy commenting on The Monaghan station Jesus I don’t know if it is a parody but some of the stuff they were coming out with they made the Armagh TV boys sound like Michael O’Hare , they called Jemar (Jamie , jimmy , jermarry , and the best one Jamie Hole’) sounded like he had a good match ) which is great because there has been some silly comments made about him on here .

Anyway the pints were a lost nicer after full time and I had a drink for every player in the squad and a couple for McGeeney a sore head but a big smile for me today .
