did silverbridge have 15 men behind the ball

Would make no difference if they had have. In Aidan Nugent and Ross McQuillan Cullyhanna have 2 form forward who will lead any defence a merry dance and score for fun. Throw in Jason Duffy, Pearse and Eugene Casey and the evergreen Mal Mackin and they have men to take scores from everywhere. I hope we get Maghery or The Nab in the semi as I’d hate to be bate by them again

Your suspiciously pessimistic about your club, I know you've explained why but I don't think things are that bad that you can completely write them off.

I can cope with losing to Maghery or the Nab

Enough of the mind games buddy. Everyone that watched Cross demolish the Harps knows who is going to win the championship, in fact I’ll go further - Cross will give Ulster a rattle this year. If I was a bookie I’d stop taking bets.

No one wants to get Cross in the semifinals, our only hope is that you beat cullyhanna in the semi and get about 5 men suspended in the process :)

Is it just me or is everyone completely disregarding Maghery? My order for favourites:
Cullyhanna
Maghery
Cross
B’nab

Beat Madden first before you worry about that ;)

For those of us who have been watching Harps throughout the year, Saturday night - both in terms of the result and the performance - represented a 'chickens coming home to roost' scenario. The inconsistencies, the poor form of individuals, the lack of cohesion etc blew up on us big time. It was a desperately disappointing way for us to relinquish our crown.

I would have to say that Rangers looked very impressive and had some great individual performances on the night but I felt that we contributed handsomely to such a scenario and my old favourite again - unforced errors - raised it's head. Poor shot and pass selection, getting too easily dispossessed, taking the wrong option etc. We conspired to miss a number of chances, including the spurning of two gold plated goal opportunities in the first half. Rangers were much more clinical - their passing and interplay was top drawer and that, together with some excellent individual performances, meant that scores were nailed when the opportunity presented. With the benefit of hindsight (a great thing), a more cautious approach from ourselves might have kept things tighter.

2017 for us was a wonderful year, with the gap to 1991 bridged, but this year we never seemed to get going. Injuries, poor form and long term absences in personnel (with the county a major factor) all contributed to a stop start feel to the year, but above all that I feel the fact that an appetite might have been sated somewhat with the success of last year was telling, which in turn meant that there was not the same drive and determination that marked our 2017 performances.

Congratulations to Rangers - I thought the performances of the O'Neills, Carragher and the ageless Aaron Kernan were brilliant, and they will now be hard stopped. I cannot wait to see how they get on from here on in, particularly if the opposition play a more conservative game plan designed to contain their attack. For us, I would commend the efforts of Charlie, Joe McElroy, Sean Farry and Con Stevenson., in what was a losing cause.

Finally, very interesting to see the comments of so many neutrals on the performance of the referee and how opinions diverge on that performance.

Hard luck Rufus but also congrats on the new addition to the extended Rufus family!!!

I thought McElroy was strong for your lads as was no 10. I actually thought Vernon played round the fringes most of the game. Won a few key balls when the mini revival happened but i felt he could have done more.

What did you think of the Ref?

Thanks my friend. Such matters help keep things in perspective!! :)

I'm not objective on this BC, but I felt he was sore on us. As an example, McKenna's yellow card I didn't even think was a free. It was a very hard challenge on a man in possession. That said though, we have too many problems of our own to consider - as I outlined above - before starting to look at the referee. He did not decide the match.

Not sure where you were sitting Rufus but I was in line with the McKenna tackle and it was borderline yellow. What I would say is McKenna could have had a few other notings for off the ball stuff so maybe it was a cumulative thing. As you say though I don’t think he decided the game. It looked to me that the team had very little game plan. We pressed up on the kick outs and the keeper panicked. I’d say in the first half we got at least 3 scores from that. No real leadership on or off the field

Agree, kickout strategy killed us, but in fairness to the keeper there was'nt a lot on. I'd say kickouts contributed to at least 1.04. A lot of our lads did'nt turn up and i'd say we were lacking in championship intensity throughout the field. We gave Cross far too much room, adopting a defensive system, which i have'nt liked all year. As Rufus states, many of the Harps were'nt too optimistic going into the game based on form and what we've done year to date.

I've seen all the teams still in contention, for me Cross can beat any of them, though its always a titantic struggle when you encounter your neighbours. Looking forward to that one if/wjhen it happens. Also for me, the referee really got on my wick, he blew everything and really impacted on any flow to the match...

It’s amazinf how two people watching the same match can have such differing opinions. I disagree with the last sentence entirely. I felt he reffed the game very well

Looking like Maghery will be the fourth semi final team.

1-9 to 0-3 ahead at HT. Madden had Niall Grimley sent off.
