Can someone clarify what the Killeavey mentor done who got carded when Harps tried to take a free kick on the far sideline? Did he get involved in the play and interfere? I looked away for a split second but seen him get carded. Thats disgraceful if its what took place. Being put 2foot behind the line was not really much punishment.

As bizarre a moment as I have seen on a football pitch and undoubtedly one in the future for 'What happened next?'

From my vantage point, we went to take a quick free kick to a free man and someone from Killeavey (who was not a player) executed a perfect block on the kick. You're right about the punishment not fitting the crime and I'll confess I was apoplectic when it happened, but given how the game subsequently unfolded I thought it best to simply move on.

A bad night and a need to regroup for the league.

Tossing a coin takes away controversy but who would be in favour of that. All above objections would equally apply to the normal playing time.
Yeah but tossing a coin is nothing more than a game of chance. As previously said, at least penalties, rare as they are, are a skill of our game and can be vital at times to the outcome. The cry of "PENALTY" can often be heard during an intense game, when some think an injustice has occurred in that sacred area, so we can't say it's not part of what we are! There have even been many discussions on this very forum as to whether an incident during a game coulda/shoulda/woulda been a penalty.

I'm in the camp of not liking the way it finished, but "everyone" knew before the competitions restarted, that this was the way it was gonna be so can have no complaints when it actually HAS to happen. Gutted for Madden and the young lad in particular who I thought was immense in normal and extra time, BUT, Madden had it won in normal time and again in extra time and tried running down the clock instead of keeping the flow of attacks that got them in the position they were in. Og's refused to lie down and accept defeat. To have a winner, there has to be a loser.

A hugely disappointing performance from the Harps lads, that said I was impressed by killeavy. Their forwards ability to take on a man and execute a scoring chance Was excellent. I seen somewhere our shooting accuracy finished at 33% which tells it own story. However a few key turning points really stick out. In the first half we missed a one on one soccer style for a goal and in the second half we had 2 x one on ones and twice turned back to beat the players we had already beat. If they go in the net then it could’ve been a different story.

the incident regarding the manager was a strange one, tbh my eyes aren’t what they used to be and as the block was executed my cries of ‘that’s a black card’ caused quite the laugh in my company. I do agree the punishment was weak as the mentor basically took two steps back behind the rail. I can see a stiff fine or punishment heading killeavys way.

I hope our lads regroup and fight to stay in 1a but like the old days who knows how things pan out post c’ship

Clann Eireann must have done rightly sounds like they pushed Maghery the whole way. Hopefully see them push on and become a real challenger.

Kicked themselves out of it by all accounts. Missed a number of scorable frees in extra time
It wasn't Turbitts night, I don't know why Clann Eireann didn't used Henderson closer to goals & on free taken he was playing to far out the field for my liking

Clann Eireann scored a sideline kick & it wasn't give cause Paudie wasn't ready turning point of the game for me plus in extra time he lost control of the game given frees then not given frees to the team he given them to in the first place

CE should have beat that maghery side. Seems to be every year people hype this team up only for them to under achieve. They're really struggling to bring the success from underage through to senior level. Maghery missing a few keys players and somehow managed to get over the line.

Is a 1B side getting to the quarter final, having beaten a 1A side in the previous round, really under achieving?

Conditions probably ruined the game to a certain extent. Both teams looked like they lacked quality with no one really standing out. I left at the end of normal time but felt Clann Eireann should have won it. Just that wee bit more direct. Maghery had more of the ball and found it difficult to pentrate the dogged Clann Eireann defence. Maghery lost some ball to turnovers and credit for that must go to the pressure put on by CE. I would expect the winner to come from Cross/Killeavy.

I would argue that giving the amount of county and provincial titles CE have won at underage level and the fact they are still in 1B would be considered under achieving. They haven't kicked on.
