So what are people’s feelings for the final? Up to the Killeavey game we were coasting to an extent. No real challenges in Silverbridge and Mullaghbawn but then there was a pretty significant wobble. Definitely struggled against a vibrant young team when they got into the game. I genuinely thought at halftime we’d win by 15, by the end of the game I was glad to be in the final!

Maghery will look at that with confidence and see this as a great opportunity to add a second title. The games between both teams have generally been tight and I’m sure they are sore after last years final. We will be slight favourites but not as clear cut as previous years. I think if we can break even against Lavery around the middle, who is still one of the best club MFs in the county, I think we will win by 2-3. If Maghery get a grip there I think they have the players to punish us. Will be a tight one no matter what

Cross are marginal favourites in my eyes, but only just and wouldn’t be surprised either way if Maghery edged it. If there is a team in the county to beat Cross this year it would probably be them. Hard to gauge form as both were mediocre in the league but have been able to turn it on in the championship.

Should top off an intriguing year though and shows what we are missing out on in terms of knockout football - surely an argument to revert back?

A bit of realism:

Killeavy came back across cross when cumiskey and kerman went off injured and then cross went down to 14men
Maghery do not have the firepower - they contain the opposition to a lowish score

Cross to win by 5 or 6 with some relative ease if they have a full compliment of players

Agree with that.

But given how much money the CB lost with attendances during all this, I’d seriously doubt they’d vote to go back to knockout football, and the financial loss that will involve.

There is that of course. I’m sure Armagh TV might have recouped some of the losses this year. I see Antrim GAA streamed some of their hurling games (FOC) on Facebook, they had 3/4 thousand tuned in if I recall correctly.

Yeah, I’m sure they recouped some.

Luring them in, getting them used to watching matches for free, before slapping on a charge ;)
