5 county players watching the St Patrick's Cullyhanna vs Grange game from behind the wire & the county don't play for another 5 weeks total joke them player's aren't allowed to play for their clubs
Agreed. The players should have collectively told McGeeney where to go and played for their clubs.

They’d have gotten more out of it than any training session and it would have done everyone the world of good to blow off steam after a disappointing day against Donegal and get fringe players more match practice. Most importantly they’d have been able to enjoy a less intense level of football at an easier level where they’re the best player(s) on the pitch.

Goes back to what I've referenced a few times.
The split season that was voted in basically means that county players are that until they are out of the championship.
That's the facts whether people like it or not.

All antrim county players have now played two round of league games since cavan beat them

Players should have been given at least one round to play while they await the draw. This whole wrapping players in cotton wool is a bullshit. You’re just as likely to get injured training with Armagh as you are with your club. Brian Cody let’s the Kilkenny hurlers tear away.

Dont think ive ever seen as poor an ogs side as that tonight. What the hell has happened there and what has happened football in the cathedral city?

Think it was said on the sideline eye that the Duffys and Freemans have either left or are injured, they’d be big players for the Ogs I think

Open to correction, but I think the Ogs have been decimated by players leaving the panel. The spine of the Ogs in recent years was very much dependent on some excellent players who had reached veteran stage, including the unsinkable Chris Rafferty and Paul Duffy. Had heard that Anto Duffy and the Freemans had also quit, which would represent a body blow, if true.

As for football in the Cathedral City, I would expect our Seniors to hold our own in Division 1A this year but like the Ogs, the spine of our side is heavily weighted on some excellent players who are maybe reaching the twilight of their careers, and replacing them will be a big challenge for us in the coming seasons.

However, and I've referenced it before, the overall standard of football in our County is absolutely shocking and the more I see of it the more I think that the current Armagh side are simply boxing above their weight and giving a lot of supporters a false expectation of what is realistically possible.

Would have to agree with you there, have been to a few senior and intermediate league games and there are very few good footballers on display, mostly athletes who are very fit and strong but unable to score from 30 yards or hit an accurate kick pass.

That’s because all the decent players atm are sitting on the bench or just being kept for in house games with the county.
Take the good players out of any sport and your left with a poorer spectacle.
County men should have been allowed to play club football for a least a couple of weeks after the Donegal game

Without a doubt.

I'm not sure there is much correlation between a strong club scene and county football. I am old enough to remember when Clan na Gael were winning Ulster clubs in the early 70s. Armagh at the time would have struggled to beat Kilkenny.

We'll agree to disagree, Kem. I'm not sure you could read anything into the overall state of Armagh football on the basis of one exceptional club side, as was the case with the great Clans team. My sense is that all of the leading counties would have very strong standards of club football. I'd be thinking here of Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone, Donegal.

I would have to agree with you there it is shocking currently, the current league format does not help with this and arguably lowers the standards. We have the championship format spot on, no doubt that may change this year to increase the oul revenue.
