I think we are going to have to be very disciplined defensively. When Down get possession I would expect them to move it forward slowly. So we will have plenty of men back. Discipline in the tackle will be key. It may not be that exciting to watch.

But we have to leave danger men up front and move it quickly when we get it. A mix of straight and diagonal long passes and keep them quessing. I can’t believe Laverty would leave 1 defender 1v1 on Turbitt. If he occupies 2 and comes out the left hand side murnin could have a field day closer in.

Down will be more confident from beating Donegal but I still think they are well off a top 10 side. It seems obvious to me that this is the day to go back to a kicking game.

Down got 11 goals or so in the league so the goal threat is real from them , no doubt.

Going forward can we at least try & get the players names right, it's McPartlan, not McPartland nor McParland, it's Crealey not Creally nor Crealy, it's Jemar Hall, not Jamar Hall & finally it's Grugan not GURGAN :D These lads (all being well, fingers crossed, holy water out & prayers said) will reach an Ulster Final this Season, it would be nice if we could at least get their names right by the time they get there. & yes it is a huge bugbear of mine.
catch yourself on

In Division 3 though, not that I don't think we will still need to be on our game.
The division 3 bit is absolutely key.

The top 10 have looked imperious when playing teams outside that elite. The exception was yesterday but it’s no surprise that it was Donegal that tripped up. They have been in free fall on the pitch and something worse off the pitch. Down finished behind Fermanagh and Cavan and got their goal tally in a division that offered up Fermanagh and Cavan as the best they have.

Down showed nothing yesterday that indicates they have the full back line to cope with us or the FF line to trouble us. Midfield looked weak also. Some good runners and some threat from Johnston and Kerr at half forward.

I wouldn't underestimate down but we should win they have a few excellent young players but they are all playing for the 20s on Wednesday so with the new rule can't play Sunday am I right with that? 5 days apart so can't play?
I'd play Rian at 11 and leave turbitt where he is
Yes correct. Murdock the obvious miss for them.

Unreserved and then a seat number is just weird. And completely unnecessary. To turn Charles J. Haughey’s logic on its head it like and Irish problem for an Irish solution

Absolutely. I don’t think we should be fooled by Down’s failure to get out of Div 3. We really need to be up for this one.
Like Cavan against Cavan, we’re a far better team, but also like Cavan they’re good enough, that if we don’t perform they’ll catch us.

They have some very good players, Kerr is a very dangerous forward. Add in the obvious derby factor too and it’ll take another big performance.
