Ulster Championship 2023

Morgan, Crealey, McPartlan - no game time during the league.
Nugent and Burns in subs?
No chance - expect a lot of changes to that named.
Whats the point of mind games with big bad Antrim?! If they need that edge at home to Antrim in the championship we are in worse shape than many feared we are.

You’d imagine Morgan and Crealy will start given as they are usually nailed on but weren’t fit during the league. Be a good chance to get game time in those 2 and no disrespect to Antrim but surely playing them at home is a handy debut than division one.

Who knows. Would be very surprised if Jarly Og and Nugent don’t start. (Is Nugent still joint captain this year?)

The chat has been how important a strong squad will be to take you to the latter stages given the potential number of games we would have to get to even a quarter final. Some of the lads on the periphery should be getting game time and experience Saturday without it jeopardising the outcome.

With the news circling and no confirmation of injuries clearing up

Magill

Mccambridge
Forker
Finn

Mckay
Mccabe
Ciaran mackin

Og burns
Campbell (don't like him in this position)

Hall
Grugan
Duffy

Nugent
Turbitt
Mcconville (wishful thinking)

Maybe Ciaran mackin in midfield and McElroy in half back and push Campbell up to forwards
McElroy injured

Shows the strength in depth we have that the team isn’t overly weakened, I know Rian and Murnin massive losses, McPartlan obviously unproven at this level but I rate him highly.

The team selection suggests a couple of things. We have lots of knocks and niggles and management are pretty sure the lads named will do the job sufficiently (which they 'should'), or, management have decided that the AI series is where it's at and the Ulster matches will be used to rest / rotate players so there are no injury risks. Interesting to see how it plays out.
Here's to a great performance tomorrow with a big crowd to get us all dreaming of Croker once again!

Mayo put out half a team thinking their squad was strong enough and were well beaten by Monaghan
No Rian, Murnin, Grimley, Cumiskey (excellent player) or McElroy
Starting 15 is still strong and positions can rotate easily.
Antrim have been hot and cold in Div 3 and have been scoring highly as well as conceding quite a bit.
They've nothing to lose so I'd expect the first 10-15mins to be competitive - hopefully we slip a goal and a few points in, calm it down and control the game.
