This goals and points stuff is very daft.

We had last weekend’s game done and dusted by the time the second major went in. 8 points up, on top all over the field, Fermanagh heads gone. From this position we could’ve won by however many we wanted.

But the rest of the day was challenge match stuff - you’re wasting your time if you’re trying to elicit insight from what was essentially 50 minutes of farting around.

Haven’t listened to it but is he saying the players just decide themselves to do it? Did the players take turbo off and replace him with McIlroy before the Monaghan game then??
I agree, would also here, he‘s not going to through management under the bus. It does seem to be there is tweaks when facing tougher oppositions that result in attacking prowess dropping off. Whether that’s intentional through tactical instructions or as a result of replacing attacking players with defenders, who knows.

On another note did anyone see the video circulating of the tackle in the Cross/Bridge game? the lad shouldered into the fence. Anyone know if there was a card for the offence? Hope the Bridge lad made a full recovery.
Looked a fair hit to me, don’t think it justified a card. Short block wall right up against the sideline is a safety hazard.

It would’ve been better to see some real sharp point scoring,
Agree it would have been good to see more points but I think we have to take into account the conditions. There was a strong, swirling wind for most of the match plus driving rain at times; not ideal for 'sharp point scoring'. I think Armagh controlled the match from start to finish and still we have plenty to work on.

Think it was a split second late because the lad had kicked it but you’re never going to be able to stop if you’re committed to the hit, probably a yellow

Wall definitely the issue moreso than the hit! Hope the fella makes a speedy recovery!

Very daft indeed

Yes the ball had gone but I take your point if comitted it is hard to pull back from that scenario. I wasn't there I was just wondering how the ref dealt with it. I also agree on the fences and walls around pitches. Massive accident waiting to happen.

It's hard to know what to think about the down game, I think they have improved from last year but shouldn't improve enough to change result, I see down as better attacking than Fermanagh and even Cavan but not sure they are better defensively, they seem to have alot of small fast players and have good potential for a few years time but I just feel they don't have the long range kickers and if we are defensively sound should be to big and strong for them, but I wouldn't take anything for granted, on the thread of goals and all that shite, for me you need to score close to 20 a game so it doesn't matter if that's by goals or points, that's what we need to aim to do
Yep.
I'd take a final score of 6-0 to 0-17 any day. Still a winning score under the current rules (not saying I could sit and watch it though - that's a different discussion!)

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but when would the final be? I'm trying to plan for it with some friends visiting.

Edit : never mind found it!

I honestly can't see that down team putting up much of a fight. They were brutal against Antrim. Do what needs to be done and regroup for the final. Then and only then will we know where that Armagh team is at this year.

I can see a reaction from Down. They were woeful against Antrim and Laverty was seething. He's used to the highest of standards with Kilcoo and he won't tolerate that. So I expect Down to bring far more intensity and quality into this game. HOWEVER, I don't think that will last for the full game and we are way ahead of them, whether it's in playing ability, conditioning or tactically and I expect us to win by six or seven points. You could argue that we would then go into an Ulster Final undercooked or fresh and ready to attack the game with everything we've got, with whoever is on the other side of the draw being battered and bruised.

Silk cloth and sows ear springs to mind. Laverty can seeth all he wants but Down just aren’t very good. We need to bring a similar intensity to Fermanagh and kill them off early, stop them getting any notions.
