Lynch running (or jogging) back for the first goal and the lack of cover by the defenders was inexcusable, did Derry believe the hype and think all they had to do was turn up , Armagh Donegal to meet for the 4th time before The end of May , every chance , big warning for us as well not to take Down for granted .

Tyrone might a dark horse here.

In general, McGeeney has often been criticised here for not making changes during the game, but how obvious was it today for Lynch to stay closer to goal?
Agree. Plenty of teams use a sweeper keeper. But the fourth goal with Lynch challenging the midfielder in the air was just madness.

Time after time Donegal beat the high press with a long kick. Interesting to see if Derry will be exposed again or have they learnt their lesson.

Interestingly enough Derry done it to Dublin a few times in the league final.

Why is it a drawback?
Such fuc*"n negativity.
We are good enough to go after silverware so let's get behind the team
You are mistaking this for negativity. There is no one more than myself who turns up to games with endless positivity. And that will be the same energy I bring to the stands against Down and hopefully again in an Ulster final. I am simply pointing out that the last number of results in big games (Derry/Monaghan/Galway/Donegal) have really stung.
I'll add that i think we have more than enough at our disposal to beat Donegal, Tyrone or Cavan, just trying to keep myself level headed.

**My third edit. And Derry for that matter. And therein lies my problem.

After that, that should be Ethan Raffs chance of coming back to play fly keeper ended.

Have to give it to Jimmy first year back and he’s already has Donegal back being talked about as contenders after that massive scalp.

I did say lads on the national league thread that Donegal would beat Derry. Was laughed at! Derry over-hyped. Jimmy is back winning matches!!

Donegal thoroughly deserved their win, bringing an intensity and game plan that Derry just couldn't match. However, Derry's unwillingness to deviate from their own tactics cost them big time. Getting caught once for a goal by having their keeper up at the half way line for a Donegal kick out when Patton is the one taking the kick out is one thing, but to do it three times is totally inexcusable. After the first one happened, Lynch should have been told to stay on his line. This was even more obvious as they were getting totally wiped at midfield by a giant Donegal side. If Glass and Rodgers were having serious issues in that area, then what would Lynch add to it? If you had Rafferty out there, you could understand it to an extend as he has the size and athleticism to compete at midfield. Lynch clearly doesn't. Those goals cost Derry massively. Donegal may still have won, but you take the 2nd and 4th goal out of it and this game is totally different.

However what is in no doubt is the intensity, size, pace and running power that Donegal bought to the contest. That is going to be incredibly difficult for teams to match up against. It will be interesting to see if they can bring that sort of intensity to their game next week, as they will be totally drained after that.

I think Derry where slow to what everyone else could see, surely keep lynch back, especially after the first 2 goals. I don't think this ends Rafferty as a sweeper keeper as was said, Rafferty is more effective imo than lynch, the problem Armagh have is they don't have a keeper who has that type of kick out that patton has, he can easily hit the opposite 45, only him beggan and Morgan can do that, it makes it easier to get over a press, in saying that I'd still like Armagh to press and push up for kick outs as we have the big men to compete with anyone, just need to make sure we have cover if against one of the few keepers who can kick over the press, I think Tyrone beat donegal and if I am honest i don't fancy us against Tyrone,

Steady on there! Tyrone haven’t beat Cavan yet. And we haven’t beat Down yet.

But I’m going to get off the fence here and say Cavan will beat Tyrone tomorrow (and if I’m wrong, well sure I’ll just edit this to make it look like I was right).
