Said I would wait till head a bit clearer this morning before posting, will be a bit more positive AM I thought.

Nope.

Ref was shocking, just shocking, one of the worst, most biased performances I’ve seen, hope to god we never see him at one of our games again.

We got the win - but only just.
Make all the excuses we want- Down were very defensive, the ref was awful etc, they got 2 lucky goals etc.
But also realise that they missed a few easy frees plus a mark, and NONE of our starting forwards scored from play. We were terrible against a blanket defense and played slow possession football which Down wanted.

In particular Turbitt, Conaty, Jarly Og and Soupy were invisible- some starting places must be up for grabs next day. Good job our subs were able to score the last 3 points.

Rian was good, but I think we need a different midfielder with him as again Crealy was disappointing. He works hard, but lacks pace and passing or shooting ability. Is Grimley not fit - or possibly Mackin of Jarly Og (play him much further back).

Big improvement needed both on and off the field or we will have another sob story in 2 weeks time.

Am I mad, or does Liam Kerr (Down 11) clear out Aaron McKay, almost rugby union ruck style, immediately prior to their second goal trickling over the line?

Without this intervention, McKay collects the shot and clears. Good scrambled defending and no second goal. A lot of dubious big call by the officials yesterday, certainly had a large impact on the pattern of the game.
- Down defender taken out for Duffy point smart play or a foul ?

Mad how people see completely opposite things, even looking at the same video clip.

Murnin doesn’t change course there, continuing where his momentum would naturally take him after laying the ball off. The Down defender does change course significantly before the collision, belatedly realising that he has lost Duffy.

For me, it’s the man that changes course that is responsible for the collision. Black card for the Down defender :p

Have Tyrone the legs for the second half?
Last day v Cavan Canavan and McCurry didn't last the entire game

Would have rathered face Donegal than Tyrone so happy enough I suppose.

Donegal at half time looked like they were struggling. For large parts of the game they struggled.

Was definitely night and day from their performance the previous week against Derry.

Think we have far better squad depth and more options to change the game if needed.

Shouldn't be too much separating the sides. PaddyPower have Donegal as slight favourites. And will plenty of talk of Jimmy winning matches. Plus we owe them after league final.

Watched our match back there. My take on 2 of the big refereeing decisions trying to be as fair as possible:
The overturned free on Murnin looked harsh but not entirely clear cut.
The free on Duffy for supposedly picking up off the ground was a blatant mistake by the ref, a shocking decision at this level.
