Did the subs get playing or just boys that didn’t feature at all? Anyone hear how we got on or who did well? The best 15 who didn't start v Down.
Know little other than subs started.Did the subs get playing or just boys that didn’t feature at all? Anyone hear how we got on or who did well?
Something needs doing because Saturdays game was such an awful spectacle. It would put you off Football. Wonder is the lower attendance at matches this year any correlation? Why introduce such a rule?
Hitting frees, penalties not permitted then?
Instead of thinking of restricting player movement why not think about rewarding skills
Donegal had two full houses.Something needs doing because Saturdays game was such an awful spectacle. It would put you off Football. Wonder is the lower attendance at matches this year any correlation?

The style of play and performance in the Monaghan qf, Donegal league final and Down games would put a lot off. We get great bandwagoners though. As expected I dont think there is anywhere near the same hype for this final as there was for Derry game last year. In fact for the first time in many many years I expect us to be outnumbered supporter wise.
An awful lot of complaining about ticket prices. 40 euro for Gerry Arthurs stand is definitely steep , especially for the seats near the front which are truly awful. Some are actually below the playing surface which should not be permitted
You don't agree that Saturday's match was extremely dull? I didn't say it was the goalkeepers problem simply that perhaps a rule tweak might be a way around the packed defense/ ball retension issue that is taking the enjoyment factor away from many fans, yourself excluded obviously. Correct me if I am wrong but is there not a committee of ex intercounty players looking at this at present at the request of Croke Park?So it's the goalkeepers problem?
Awful spectacle? What's your concept of a spectacle?
Excellent point. If Dublin had to play Down in Leinster there would be no way that they would have only won by a single point. We sat off Down and let them have a lot of the ball early doors, should have pushed out and put them under pressure imo.
Would a top team like Dublin or Kerry have let a shite Down team have the ball and build up confidence or would they have laid out a marker from the start that there was only going to be one winner?
Dublin let Roscommon hold it for 6 minutes last year.We sat off Down and let them have a lot of the ball early doors, should have pushed out and put them under pressure imo.

Well I am genuinely glad to hear that some people are getting something out of games like that. They are in the minority of the people I speak to about the current game. You are right there is no rewards for spectacles, but perhaps the custodians of our games should try and change something so that there is. That is what I am getting at. I am not a win at all costs type. I think the way you play the game says a lot about character. I think the current style is based more on fear of the opposition hurting you than belief in your own ability to hurt them. If winning is the sole objective why not develop a game than can win.against the best teams because the concensus across all the pundits is that that style of play will not win an All Ireland. As much as I would love to win silverware I would prefer not to bore everyone to death in the process. I do fear for the well being of the game in the future. Will kids really be compelled to go out and dream of being thr 4th sweeper in a packed defence. Each to their own I suppose but not for me. I think the games years ago had competitive battles and fierce competition for every ball and that was part of the reason you couldn't take your eyes off it. The also took more risks ans created more excitement and drama.I actually found it intriguing on Saturday
There is no reward for having a spectacle
If the scoreline was 4-18 to 3-19 in favour of Down - 46 scores - would you have been happy with the spectacle and not be in a final or 13-12 in favour of Armagh and being in the final?
For me it's getting to the final - I don't care how we got there.
Yes there are people looking at potential - stress potential - rule changes but that's all based on feedback etc and then has to go through a voting in process.
It's a simple game and rule tweaks in recent years have not helped - the mark being one.
I do implore anyone who finds games these days boring please watch games from previous decades and say what's better then.
We will never ever be as exciting as top level hurling but football is a much much better spectacle than soccer and rugby - when watched in person.
Clubs only so if you're not a member of a club you won't be in the running for a ticketIs there going to be an online sale for tickets or is clubs only?
Depends whether theres any left after orders through clubs are fulfilled. Was there a few online last year nearer the final? Is there going to be an online sale for tickets or is clubs only?
Very interesting take on it and I think its great that such a tactical grinding game excites you - each to their own i guess.I actually found it intriguing on Saturday
