I’d say it’s more about bumping into an experienced, well-oiled machine, in the form of Kilcoo.Ballybay poor today. Consequence of 1 week turnaround or overhyped after meeting a Cross team not firing on all cylinders?

A bit of both I’d say.Ballybay poor today. Consequence of 1 week turnaround or overhyped after meeting a Cross team not firing on all cylinders?
Bit of both is right. Kilcoo a serious outfit but Ballybay probably would have given a better account of themselves with the extra week offA bit of both I’d say.
Worth noting that Cross have also been overhyped. They’d one outstanding performance against Maghery and then were up against mediocre sides in Dromintee & Granemore. Silverbridge probably kicking themselves.
They're still the best team in Armagh. Kilcoo lucky to get out of Down also - took extra time in two games to make it. I think when you get to Ulster club - if one team is not at 100% performance, you're in trouble.A bit of both I’d say.

Not by far though. I agree with you, Ulster Club is an unforgivable environment. They're still the best team in Armagh. Kilcoo lucky to get out of Down also - took extra time in two games to make it. I think when you get to Ulster club - if one team is not at 100% performance, you're in trouble.

I do think the short turn around to the Kilcoo game was detrimental to Ballybay, a good chunk of their main men are in their 30’s and apparently one or two were carrying knocks from the Cross game. Don’t want to overstate that as a factor as Kilcoo are comfortably better than either Ballybay or Cross. The Monaghan Senior Final was on 16 October, which meant that Ballybay had almost a three week gap to the Rangers game followed by a gap of eight days to the Kilcoo game. Can the extra week for Kilcoo have really been a factor of any consequence?
Rangers were comfortably the best in Armagh this year, and got a serious going over from a team who themselves in turn were hammered by the Down Champions. It gives me no pleasure to say it but for me, this is just one more symptom of how poor football is in our county. The recent record (last five / six years) of our Club Champions at all grades in Ulster, alongside our Underage teams, is a damning indictment of where we are.
No guarantee Cross is going to get better, AK, Morgan, Hughes, Clarke don’t have too many years left between them and if they’re not getting pushed internally within Armagh by other clubs it’s hard to raise standards. As @bcb1 eludes to regularly they were being pushed by the Mullabawns, Dromintees when they were at their height who had they of got out of Armagh may have went onto win Ulster.I do think the short turn around to the Kilcoo game was detrimental to Ballybay, a good chunk of their main men are in their 30’s and apparently one or two were carrying knocks from the Cross game. I don’t think Cross gave a good account of themselves against Ballybay and certainly aren’t as poor as the results are suggesting and will only improve in Ulster over the next few years, but I agree that Armagh football (outside of the senior team) is in a poor poor place at the minute.
