Heard a commentator say yesterday during the donegal game that physical strength really comes into its own in these kind of conditions. I think that's a huge difference between us and Donegal (and probably a lot of the top 4 / 5 sides). They are beasts of men and we probably lack that kind of physicality.

We lack a Murphy or an O’Shea but we still have a lot of big men. Physicality wouldn’t be my concern playing Donegal.

And yet it has been mentioned previously about too much physique

It takes a long time to build that physique, strength, conditioning
It has to start in teenage years (controlled conditions) and then dedication to keep doing it

Haven’t been on in a while but thought I’d awaken from the dead to login. Let me guess, two wins in last two matches and even thorough I haven’t been on in like 3 years I’ll guess no posts from the likes Shiftya & bbc1 when we get a win but immediate posters when we lose. Am I right???

whatever about the British Broadcasting Corporation I have been very supportive of the team. They have evolved and I openly admit that I have been critical but I still see issues. There are problems defensively and we do give away far too many cheap frees. If that can be improved upon then we are in a decent position.

Autumn football is won by teams with strength in the middle third. That is something that we may lack a small bit against Donegal. For 55 minutes Tyrone were able to handle Murphy our round there on Sunday but as the legs got heavier and the game slowed down he came into his own and controlled the pace of the game. We need to be able to match that on 2 weeks, or at least be 3-4 ahead going into the last 10 minutes as I don’t think we win a dog fight. That’s not saying we don’t have the dogs, just that they are pups to Donegals Rottweilers

3 games in the last 3 weeks and we have achieved the goal of promotion and beaten derry. Donegal up next and conditions likely to be atrocious again. We really have to get the line up right, and if we do we will have a fighting chance in this one. Rian at FF, id move Oisin to chf, Grimely at midfield, sheridan to partner him, donaghy at chb if fit. We need direct powerful runners for this one. We also cannot understate the importance of Campbell here, hes as strong as an ox and a dorect ball carrier. I really dont think this game will be won with long early kick passing, Donegal will be cute to that, we need to carry the ball this time and break tackles. I dont fear this Donegal, take out the trouncing in the AG about 5 years back and we have run them close in the league and championship otherwise. We have a chance, christ I even think we have a decent chance. Strong running with the ball, support players off the shoulder, itll be scrappy but we will be there or there abouts.

I really admire the optimism and I hope you're on the money but I fear for this game. Our full back line is a massive worry for me with Murphy switching in and outfield, potentially mcbrearty fit, Jamie Brennan and Oisin gallen. That is a massive forward line for not only scores from play but also winning frees from some of our rash tackling at times. I can't see anything but a Donegal victory by a few tbh but hope I'm wrong!

Maybe its blind optimism or misplaced optimism from me, but ive never feared Donegal. They are a good team and have good player's. We can run at them and we can profit. Ive been as big a critic on our tackling over the years, I genuinely felt that some of derrys frees yesterday were soft and id not normally say that. A fully fit Donaghy would give us some lift.

100% on Derry getting soft free kicks
