What ifs

No doubt it was BC, but check out the frees that Fermanagh got in that first half, which were soft in the extreme, at a time when it didn't look as if it would matter.
We didn't have our full focus on that game and still should have won-but that series of soft frees awarded to Fermanagh went some way to killing our early momentum. One of those games that where a team given little chance find themselves in the mix and get a surge-those frees did a lot to help that. And it continued through the game. I ventured a while back to watch a recording of that game (why I don't know). I can't remember the exact words-but at one point in the second half the co commentator Enda Gormley remarked that Armagh were having to work very hard to get a free and something along the lines that 'he would have been awarded a free if wearing a green jersey'. I might be doting of course and could not bring myself to re watch to be sure, but thats what it sounded like.
We couldn't touch Stephen Maguire their full forward without the whistle blowing. In contrast, in second half I remember Barry Owen cleaning Ronan Clarke and then falling with his knees on his back. Nada.

What if I and others had not run on to the pitch in the dying seconds of the 1984 NFL Quarter-Final Play-off against Cork in Athlone. Armagh took the lead by 3-4 to 0-12 at that time, before further added time saw a late Cork point to force extra-time. Despite a fourth Armagh goal early in the extra -time first period, the Leesiders ran out 0-20 to 4-4 winners. After the match the referee allegedly stated that he had added further time after the over-enthusiastic youngsters took to the pitch, my bad.

What if Oisin had scored that penalty in the 02 final, wonder how the game might have unfolded then

One for the oldies and one which plagued me for much of my youth
What if McKinstry did not get injured in 2nd half against Roscommon 1980?
And...Brian Hughes had not then been moved from full forward (where he was causing havoc) to midfield to replace McKinstry

Kerry were in their prime, but I think we would have beaten them in the final that year, such was our form
This is the first what if re Armagh football that always comes to my mind, was a golden opportunity back then I feel

Mickey Ned O'Sullivan always maintained that had we scored a goal at that time, Kerry would have won the All Ireland, and I've some sympathy for that view. Kerry undoubtedly went in at half-time thinking the game was won. Armagh went out in the second half with a 'nothing to lose' mentality and in the end swept Kerry away - the one point victory margin flattered Kerry.
