All Ireland Final

Tyrone have to be favourites but a few things that should give everyone at least hope.
Horan had the Stones to remove AOS and therefore is likely to have the stones not to start him. I can only see AOS starting if there is a very special plan for his use.
Unlike Kerry, Mayo have an incredible workrate and ability to put the tackles in.
Mayo also have been dead and buried twice and come back. They have also had very significant injuries and found a way to get by.
The long delay actually helps Mayo. The team that beat Dublin was always going to be on a high that needed to be brought down.

In a tight game of Tyrone vs Whomever I would usually back Tyrone. Mayo are on this year’s form a possible exception to that.

Agree on AO’S. He sort of hinders Mayo’s attacking play, slow at distribution and gets bottled up easily.

I can see him starting on the bench, and coming on if Mayo need a goal. He could unsettle the Tyrone defence with long high balls in. Or if Mayo lead, they might bring him in to try and take a few marks at midfield, keep possession and slow the game down.

I watched Kerry Tyrone again and McCurry was quiet, and McKenna didn’t do much other than the two goals. So if they’re kept quiet, who gets Tyrone’s scores?

I predict a tight game, no goals. Mayo have usually beaten Tyrone in recent meetings, and I think Mayo will finally get over the line by 2 points.

Reasons for optimism:

Over the last number of years Tyrone have found it hard to beat Mayo.

Mayo have used up enough bad luck over the years. They are due some good luck.

AOS is bound to play better and he gives an option Kerry didn't have.

Mayo have a much better defence than Kerry and will match Tyrone's hunger and fitness.

Reasons to be pessimistic

Tyrone by 21 points. All over by half time.

Now like I was saying before, I know bugger all about these things and never got a prediction right yet. 71 years of trying and wife says give it up, but like a good optimist, I'll give it one more go!

Glad Mayo lost. Not glad Tyrone won. Think we should learn to accept Tyrone are going to get stronger from here onwards so I wouldn't be holding out for any Ulster's or All Irelands.

Why accept? Change manager and lets see the full potential of the Armagh team when properly organised

A dark day, but Tyrone more than earned that. They’re limited enough AI winners, but very clever and exceptionally well coached. Without Logan and Dooher, Tyrone probably would’ve been gone by mid-July.

Makes you think about what can be achieved when you have the courage to dump a long serving, but underachieving, management team.

There is going to be a new era of dominance for Tyrone. They are only going to get better from here onwards. Kerry are going to be Kerry, Dublin on a downward spiral while everyone looks forwards to playing against Mayo in an AI final because you are pretty much guaranteed an AI.

I don't begrudge them the win - they have beat Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Kerry and Mayo to win their AI. This is a completely new team to the one we faced in the 00's. It is time to stop being bitter about them winning and congratulate them. So congratulations on your AI Tyrone.

In reference to ourselves Tyrone managed to evolve over the year. They really turned things around after that hammering they received against Kerry. Of course there was a little help from the GAA along the way where it is one rule for one county and a completely different one for another. I think it was in the second half a Tyrone player connected with the Mayo players neck - the umpires were involved. If that was Armagh it would have almost certainly been a black card. Referees need to be scrutinised in the public eye , the players have suffered from it for years. Most umpires can't be trusted to watch the ball go over the bar never mind reporting incidents that happen on the pitch.
