Nah, I don’t get any sense that this Tyrone team will dominate going forward. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if any one of two or three teams knocked them out of Ulster next year. They’re limited enough, with no real star quality. Just well coached, well conditioned, and possess great self belief.

Dublin will be back next year and will probably win it. Kerry have more quality and will probably have a smarter managerial ticket to move them forward. Mayo could make moves if they ditch Horan and that attention seeking passenger O’Shea and focus on their younger lads with brighter manager.

There’s a bit of a 2010 feeling to this year for me. A weird year with an overall dip in quality that has allowed for a fairly limited winner to emerge from the crowd.

What did O’Shea bring to that Mayo team?

Couldn’t understand why they kept him on. Or if going to keep him on, why not station him at FF and hoof it in? They didn’t even do that, even when needing goals.

That is the big difference and I wouldn't underestimate how powerful such a simple thing can be. I don't think Dublin will be back, that winning mentality built up over the last number of years has been shattered. Kerry are Kerry. I agree about Horan. Yes Mayo beat Dublin but a weak Dublin. They are not battle hardened which is probably why they are always found out in the finals. Armagh almost had them a few years ago. Horan isn't fixing the problems that exist in Mayo and it is a combination of Mayo being soft and mentality.

The quality has dropped this year but Tyrone really turned their season around and as much as everyone hates them for it you have to be envious of their ability to be able to do that.

Tyrone have traditionally been poor defending AIs but that group is young and motivated, so will be a serious outfit to come up against.

Certainly more a group collective rather than a collection of stars, but McShane, Canavan, Donnelly and potentially McKenna are Rolls Royce players.

Armagh probably have a pure forward unit to match the best in Ireland and in RoN, someone with genuine POY potential but lack 10 or so 7/10 players elsewhere to make a proper team capable of beating the best, consistently.

That's where Tyrone have an advantage. They may not have as many superstars as other teams but they have a great depth of very good players, that on average make up for not having a Clifford

Paudie Clifford getting one for playing well against hurling teams. McShane or Conroy more deserving for me. Kilpatrick deserved one for his catch in the final alone.
