The winners of Armagh/Tyrone and Monaghan/Mayo would expect to get through Rd2 of the qualifiers.
Interesting how the div 1 teams got drawn against each other.
That's the luck of the draw

I'm not a believer in getting easy draws in the championship or back door. Simply put, if we are going anywhere this year or next we need to know the exact level of this team. Tyrone, in the Athletic grounds is a definite benchmark. Donegal away was sobering, now we see the exact level of this team and management. All we ask is that 100% commitment and effort is shown and we know that it will be given. So if we are good enough then let Tyrone worry about us. Remember, for us this is a free shot, they are the All Ireland champions and all the pressure is on them. They are red hot favourites and that will hopefully suit us.

any update on Ciaran Mackin?

Read on here he has a fractured eye socket and would be out for the season. Yet he was warming up/kicking around on the pitch in Ballybofey before the match started.

Can we rise to putting the AI champions out?
Wrong thread…

On a serious note, there was an inevitability about it. The question now is it’s time to shite or get off the pot. This is a great opportunity for an indication of where there the team is at. Much will depend on player availability etc but if the full team is available then there is a major scalp there for the taking but Tyrone also have retribution in the back of their heads from the league. Plenty of intrigue and subplots but by good it will be some day of football!

Exactly the draw I would have wanted. We don't need to be papering over the cracks and stumble though a few rounds of the qualifiers, viewing that as some kind of success. The team have a chance to redeem themselves and get some pride back after the Donegal game. If we win, great. If we don't, I want to see them leave everything on the pitch and give it a f****** go!

I get where you're coming from with your post but there are only 2 rounds of qualifiers, this one & then if you win another round when you play 1 of 4 Provincial losers, there can be no "stumbling through a few rounds of the qualifiers" this year.
