For all the new members and those that were there. Jan 6 in breffni park land the deep horror of the snow drive home. It’s the last two games that make those all worthwhile.
Everyone following this team knew the talent was there. It’s taken too long to reveal itself fully but god it’s been fun to watch recently.
That was one of the worst drives ever! I couldn't see the road at points until Monaghan when it was clear the council did work lol

it looks like we are. Obviously this is a brand new thing and nobody on this forum has ever been boisterous at games before........
I have a vivid recollection of an absolute crescendo of booing as the late, great Dermot Earley lined up his '50' in the closing minutes of the drawn All Ireland semi-final in 1977. A point would almost certainly have won the match. His scuffed shot was greeted with huge cheers.

I'll have to confess that as an immature 12 year old, I joined in with gusto!!

45 years and counting that I've held that secret!! A weight off my shoulders!! :p

Confession is good for the soul.
I had my head buried in my hands and couldn't look
Apparently Gerry O'Neil ran onto the field and across Early just before he took that shot and shouted something. Did that really happen? I can't remember

According to Jimmy Smyth, it did. It was in an interview in GL last week.

Booing cannot be tolerated and the passage of 45 years does not lesson the offence.

Rufus should be banned from the forum for 12 months and any statutes of him thrown in the Callan.

I accept the confession was clear but no hint of the remorse. I would remind Mr Firefly (if that is in fact his real name) that impressionable youngsters and indeed unchaperoned females read this forum

As you say that, there is indeed something registering from the distant recesses of my memory!!

Amazing. I didn't remember it happening at the time.
Can you imagine if something like that happened now?
Wonder what he said?
Did it refer to sheep stealing?

It's all coming out in the wash now Mr Grimes. I've heard some say that the smoke in Clones was not from a flare but a small bespectacled individual smoking a very large cigar. That same individual was (allegedly) seen handing out various cards with the word "Boo" and "Booo" and indeed "Boooooooo" to some of the younger, more impressionable (also inebriated) fans. Perhaps the lack of remorse could be due to the fact that, not only has he none for his actions of 45 years ago, actually condones such behaviour.
In the light of this new evidence I think we should move to ban Mr Firefly (like you Mr Grimes, I'm not totally certain that is his real name) for LIFE!!! Although at the ripe old age of 57 he may not have long left anyway!!

What chance do our youth have if this is the role models we produce .

Just on last minute frees we had a few more than a few in number of semi finals 77 Rufus has referenced which I had no clue about as I was still a twinkle in the old lads eye….
2005 was the greatest sickener ever and the joy of 2002 with the Dubs , I wasn’t booing for either btw probably because I couldn’t move or speak , I remember Oisin levelling us up against Donegal in an Ulster final any other famous /infamous ones .

Was that in an Ulster final?

Ulster final 2000 against Derry had a few squeaky bum moments involving free kicks.
Oisin's winning score (from a free or 45?) was epic.
Tohill then had a chance to level right at the death. Tense

The story goes that it did indeed reference "sheep" and followed with something beginning with "s" and ending with "g" or "r"! As to the truth as how it was actually pronounced or indeed said is purely conjecture!

Watched the game back again this morning and it really is a very satisfying feeling, BUT we need to curb the ecstasy a little while riding the crest of the wave from the last two games. This is a tiny bit like the first two games in the league, except we played these two so much better. Let's stay grounded and head to Croke Park "hoping" rather than "expecting". Keep the pressure off the lads and give them the best chance. The noise we will bring will over compensate for being a tad reserved in the build up.

Anyway, point of the post:
a) At the time when Ethan took a shot and was "cleaned" I thought sure it was a vile vicious attempt to take him out. Even having watched it twice already I never picked anything else up, but watching it again, it was actually the result of a very badly timed block attempt with the player "head down" and just momentum making him clatter into Ethan. He got a yellow and in all honesty I don't believe it was deserved for the incident. It just looked worse in real time, but I'll still take the fact he had to think before tackling again.

b) Jeez Rian is a serious player. Ok so nothing new there, but he also knows how to work the support. I counted 12 times he gestured to the crowd to raise the temperature with noise and each time the roar got louder, followed by a fantastic score from some of our lads. He "created the space" with a genius that cannot be taught. It's instinct and knowing the timing. Very reminiscent of when Oisin scored in "that" final and went behind the goals. He knew then it was our turn. This is who will lead the motivation from the field.

c) Soupy's missed goal opportunity wasn't as easy as I remembered. The keeper actually had done well to close down the space and he snapped at the shot. A full second sooner and it was in. Easy from the stand or sideline.

In the words of one of the worlds greatest ever leaders "Let's make Croke Park great again!!!!!!" C'mon ta foooooooootball Armagh!!

For reasons I could never quite pinpoint, I never really liked Roscommon.
But fair dues, their supporters must have a bit of self aware humour going by the title of their forum

Anyone know what the story is with Jamie Clarke? Gaelic Life have a couple of articles (1month old) saying he's back training with Crossmaglen ?
