I brought my two daughters and their two children to Croke Park yesterday, all for the first time, bar myself. I felt that they and I witnessed one of the greatest spectacles of gaelic football, excitement, sheer endeavour and heroics that had ever been seen there. They were completely riveted to every aspect of the game and they can't wait for the next match to support their beloved Armagh. I, their father and grandfather, feel the same.

TK got caught up in the melee. That's what happens in melees, they take on a life of their own and fellas do things that they wouldn't dream of doing in normal circumstances. I have admired TK's football since he joined the Armagh panel and I know he will get over this. He will do the right thing and take his punishment. I do think, however, that discipline is a broader issue and needs to be addressed. Agression on the sideline, pays no dividends on the field of play or on the score sheet.

Overall, my daughters and grandchildren had a fantastic day and weren't too annoyed about the melee. Like myself, they felt that Galway controlled the game for long periods and probably deserved their victory but they were brimming with admiration of the heroics and never-say-die spirit that was shown by Armagh

Folks - I am still so deflated and empty after yesterday. But super proud of the lads - a fantastic group of men who showed real character to claw their way back into that game when they looked dead and buried.

They have so much more to give and I can't wait to see how they develop over the next few years.

They are an absolute credit to the county -play the game with a sense of adventure, creativity and enthusiasm. Combine that with experience and control in the future and we'll be knocking the doors of the all Ireland.

Come on Armagh.

Where do you even begin with yesterday's game? I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted after watching one of the greatest games of football I've ever seen. I'm still feeling the same sense of loss as I was yesterday and think that it will take a long time to get over. To come back the way we did and to twice have the game in our own hands in extra time, only to lose it, will be another example in the long list of one that got away from Armagh football.

The atmosphere at the game yesterday was incredible and was a real throw back to the 2000's when it was the norm to have attendances like that. The only drunken behaviour I witnessed was sadly from our fans, as a group of lads fell off a bus and proceeded to chant 'Oh ah up the RA, Brits out' as they walked to ground. Embarrassing and disgraceful. Fans from other counties must look on in absolute shock and disgust. All teams have the drunken yobs who tarnish a fan base, but it's stuff like that which sticks in people's minds and when we rightly argue that the GAA is for everyone, degenerates like this just make that case so much harder to make.

On the field we played really well for the first 20 minutes and looked like we were going to boss the game. James Morgan kept Shane Walsh quiet for the most part and Forker did a decent job on Comer. Those two players, only scored 5 from play, which is some effort when you consider how good they are and central to the game plan. However, we didn't have an answer for Finnerty, who was the real difference in the end. Galway started to dictate the game and we started to revert to slow build up football, which just doesn't suit us. We had goal chances that we didn't take and there were fumbles and simple mistakes which really stunted us. The free that Coldrick gave them, when the Galway player was expecting Morgan to charge into the back of him and when he didn't, just threw himself on the ground, was compounded by the blatant foul on Rian at the other end of the field moments before. That two point swing was crucial.

One of the things that really hurt us I felt, was that we just didn't have enough quality on the bench. There were players there that I genuinely had no idea were still on the panel or hadn't played all season, which showed just how deep into our reserves we had to go. That was a game where Niall Grimley, Oisin O'Neill, Tiernan Kelly and Paddy Burns would have made such a difference. Galway were at full strength, while we were having to play two youngsters in Justin Kieran and Eoin Woods, who despite how well they did, had played about 30 seconds of football combined this season. Paddy Burns would have given us that another extra tight marker that would have been able to contain Finnerty better.

A lot of focus has been on the brawl and rightly so. That's the third one we've been in this season and whoever you blame for them, we are the common factor. This is a reputation which will do us no good in the long run. And when you see what Tiernan Kelly did, we can have no complaints. It was a disgraceful thing to do and he'll deserve whatever punishment gets thrown at him. Armagh should not be looking to involve people to get any ban reduced.

Overall it's been another season of improvement but with two major disappointments. We are established Division 1 side now and have a deep panel of quality players. We are missing a player with that top level speed that can destroy teams. Ross McQuillan seemed to be that player but just hasn't been on the pitch enough for whatever reason to give us that weapon. We've had some big wins in the league, blooded new players and seen other players develop massively. The losses to Donegal and Galway are going to be two bitter pills to swallow and it's going to be a long six months until we see this team again.

I just watched the game back, you've got to be realistic, although we didn't give up and route one worked on Sunday at the end it won't always. They also had two key players missing in this area their first choice keeper Flaherty who got injured in the league final and fullback Mulkerrins and the big midfielder McLoughlin. They would have managed them situations better. Galway butchered a number of big goal chances by the big Kelly lad and Comer. They could have been 10 or 12 up. Their transition from defence to attack was impressive at times and our half forward line/midfield couldn't manage them, Molloy, McHugh, Silke and Daly had ball in hand an awful lot. They took the goal chances in the league versus Derry and and beat them by 11 away from home without Shane Walsh. They may be this years surprise package. We had a big year but we need to win Ulster to build from. Their team was built from Connacht titles and All Ireland wins, Sigerson with NUIG, club wins Corofin x 4 and Ougherard at Intermediate and an U20 win two years ago, with Glynn, Finnerty and Kelly being impressive from that team. There is a lot of lazy analysis around them. They have evolved from the Kevin Walsh ultra defensive team to team who are well structured with a bit of flair from Walsh and Finnerty included. A quarter final was good progress from us. Roll on the club championship.

The Nolan show now leading with the brawl it’s turning ridiculous now
You should never listen to this asshole. His show is pure gutter journalism, a radio version of the Sun newspaper. Did he have a story about Derry scoring 5 goals on Saturday or that Armagh brought 37,000 fans to the game? To put that into perspective for this horrible crettin, Winsor Park holds 18,500 so we would have filled it twice. Please switch him off, do not give him oxygen.

listening to that shite show is even more ridiculous :) The 'Tea shop' and sports minister of the Free state were on about it yesterday as well they would be better off concerning themselves about the cost of people going to games , the lack of public transport in Dublin and also the amount of people I passed that were homeless begging on the streets .

As said earlier, I watched it back, the pushing and shoving is ridiculous and looks bad, all teams should stay away from it. Trial by social media and talk radio is always dreadful. Giving some individuals a device that allows them to comment without a filter was always going to be dangerous (look at me this morning). There has been no comment from Galway GAA. It is time to move on. The rest is for the GAA. The two players should have a pint and lunch and move on or this will drag on into future games. I met Donegal people recently in Downings and they are fed up with it dragging on as it didn't get sorted after Letterkenny.

If a Tyrone man eye gouged one of our boys this forum would be calling for this head. I don’t know why the word trial is being used as there is no question about his guilt. Most social media posts I’ve seen have just expressed their disgust at the act and rightly so, he could have potentially blinded the man, few have taken it too far calling for his job and the guards to get involved, but given the nature of his actions and the high profile of a AI quarter final you can see why it attracted so must outrage. The news cycle is short and by the weekend everybody will be outraged by something else.

Think Rte made a valid point yesterday. There is not a lot going on these days in the sporting world so think it is getting extra coverage then it normally would.

Although saying that watching Joe Brolly analysing it would have been entertaining

I got what I wished for. Some of his points are valid enough.

But the statement about Armagh players deliberately trying in injure Galway players through the match is ridiculous. Yes a few hard hits but nothing malicious

We are going to be hung drawn and quartered over this. Every man and his dog now putting their 10p in. I think we will have 4 or 5 suspended now with financial penalties and whatever is handed to Kelly.

that article is a pile of steaming horse.....
Think it has to be taken with pinch of salt. Brolly has a habit of going over board on a number of occasions. That's just his style.

But I still find him a lot more entertaining than a lot of current pundits these days

After all who can forget his Sean Cavanagh rant or his Marty Morrissey remark. He was TV gold

Brolly is far from TV gold. He’s a narcissist and an attention seeker. His articles are evidence of that. The last few years of TSG became unbearable with him there. Whatever you think of the other pundits on there, they aren’t talking over people, acting like a bunch of ignoramuses (or ignorami?).

Having said that, when he talks politics, the troubles, etc, he can be very listenable.
