1/4 finals defo on CP split over the 2 days 1/2 July. 2 double headers.

Will comment on the game and this morning’s draw later as I’ve work to be at but momentum is now key. Teams coming off good results over the weekend will be hard to beat. Donegal, Cork, Kildare….they’ll fancy their chances.

Any thought's on why the attendance was so low , 6803 I think if it had of been in Cavan or the Midlands it would have been far better , or are people finding the expense too much ?.

Nothing to add on game/performance itself that has not been already said here over the last few pages.
Brilliant day.
This could be the game that helps things fall into place and convinces team themselves, that they can win games involving fine margins
For all critics of management out there-suck up and know what an achievement this is, don't minimize it That team has gone through a relegation and an Ulster Final defeat involving-fine margins and some bad luck. I myself was worried about the impact this succession of hard knocks and heart breaking close calls would have on the team and some of the senior members who have been in the trenches for so long. But what we seen yesterday was a team full of belief and hunger-a magnificent job by management and a great reflection of the character of our team. This could be the spark that brings it all together.
I’ve had my doubts about the management this year more than any other year and while I have been critical I don’t think I have posted in the manner of some posters. However let me say thank you to the management team and players. Yesterday was fantastic and the joy the management showed at the end more than made up for any doubts I had this year.

Last line possibly. 4 hours round trip on a Sunday. I didn’t go myself but I have a good excuse. I’ve damaged the cartilage in my knee so haven’t left the sofa all week haha

A variety of things, including the prospect of a soaking, may have put people off.
However, those who were there were football people and the yob element did not travel (which is not implying that all those who did not travel were yobs).

Its a long drive to and from - 2:30 each way (for me with pit stops), and its not motorway - winding bad roads.

Its on the TV (good coverage, replays, different camera angles, saves you the cost of going as well as you practically get your whole day back to do other stuff - I left at 1 and got back at 9:30 yesterday)

Its not knock out - there will be another day out

The weather - sitting in a car on a glorious day, then get soaked at the match itself

PS. Compared to Páirc an Chrócaigh - any game we play there will attract a bigger attendance ,the stadium and going to Dublin is a draw in itself

does anyone know if the semi final pairings are done this year or is there a draw after the quarter finals? I seen somewhere that Armagh and Kerry are the same side of the draw but wasn't sure.

So there will be another draw for the 1/4 finals? It's not a case of winner of game 1 will play Armagh, winner of game 2 will play Kerry etc?

Was thinking that myself. It used to be that certain provincial winners were also destined to meet. I.e. ulster and munster would have also been paired in semis.

But givent the current format I don't think that it is possible. I would assume it would just be an open draw. Though don't quote me on that.

I think we only had 6 or 7 wides in the game, must be our lowest in a while, though a couple of them were fairly poor particularly in the second half. The wides killed us vs Tyrone and Derry, we created plenty of chances to win both those games and if we’re honest there wasn’t much difference in the overall performance levels other than that. Hopefully this win gives the team some much needed confidence, this championship is wide open and we have the ability to beat anyone on our day, if we take our chances.

We only tried the high ball on top of the goalkeeper once, an excellent ball from grugan in the second half. Murnin & jarly og were both in and amongst to fight for it, two big lads who can cause a bit of bother in there. We really need to try that tactic a bit more often than we do. If we scored a goal at any point yesterday I don’t think Galway were ever going to catch us, and I had the same feeling vs Derry.
It would be nice to be the one holding the lead, rather than chasing it down, for once.

Crealy is incredibly important to the Armagh set up, we need him to allow the forwards to press the kickout. Even though Galway were winning a lot of the breaks, they clearly didn’t want to be going long as often as they did.

I really do wonder what Walsh is at & how Joyce is playing him. It seems like he’s trying to play last years AI final every game, dropping deep and running at his man. It worked in that game because he was left 1v1, but it’s so easy to stop if the defence has a player waiting on his cut inside. I think he only got one off when he cut inside Forker in the first half. If Geezer had a player like that underperform so regularly he’d be crucified.

Would have to be another draw.

Armagh cannot meet Galway or Tyrone
Kerry cannot meet Mayo or Cork
Dublin cannot meet Roscommon or Kildare
Derry cannot meet Donegal or Monaghan

Best case scenario

Galway win it means Mayo are out and we do not have to play them.
Tyrone win and we can meet Kildare vs Monaghan and Cork vs Roscommon.
Donegal win and it becomes one of Kildare, Monaghan, Cork, Roscommon and Donegal.
