Agree and a lot of our players were well off it last night , I know a couple of lads have been singled out for criticism but very few performed last night , however in previous games like this I felt we looked inferior on this occasion I thought we just needed a spark to ignite and we had the better quality players , maybe I’m delusional be interested to see if others feel the same.

On the penalty although I was watching it on a shitty stream I didn’t see the players protest and the commentary never mentioned it , some people said the crowd were booing , did any players protest ?
A few did at next break in play.

There are a lot of talking points after last night Monaghan can feel annoyed about losing but do can we. Rowland hitting the post in the first 2 minutes, Forker missing two, Nugent missed one which seemed to be particularly frustrating for McConville on commentary, the penalty that should have been a goal, the spurred goal chances. They would have been worth as much if not more than their missed chances.

It always feels like Monaghan like to control the tempo of games and teams let them. I suppose they welcome the pushing up on them tactic when conditions are favourable as Beggan has a huge kick on him. Last night we could press up on them and put them under pressure and It worked to an extent.

The referee kept slowing down the kick outs along with the clowns who kept kicking the ball out on to the pitch when Hughes was preparing to kick out. However, we knew teams were going to do this eventually. We can use teams pushing up on us as a tactic that would favour us by punishing anyone who presses. Or develop another kick out strategy. This isn't a criticism if Hughes because it is down to players not making themselves available but there is an indecisiveness that unsettles me but I think that was also down to the problems associated with the extra ball and referee not allowing quick kick outs. We are going to need a few strategies here otherwise we aren't going to have much of a championship. Not blaming anyone as these tactics have been working but thankfully it was Monaghan that have exposed this weakness and not Donegal in the championship.

This wasn't a game for Hall as he couldn't really run anywhere in those conditions. O'Neills injury didn't look good at the end when he had two people carrying him to the changing rooms at the end. Turbitt has had 30 minutes of football and already has 1-1 to his name.

It is hard to tell in those conditions but I would suspect the bar for fitness levels have been set higher over the break. There were times we just looked lethargic whereas Monaghan looked in much better shape. There were a few players that looked a bit sluggish.

Other than for the decision making, poor handling of the ball, poor shooting and lack of composure on the ball there is not much else to be said. I think the players know they had a shite game but still managed to do enough to get the point. The main aim of division one is to stay in division one. Personally I do not care about winning the league but our remaining fixtures are Mayo, Kildare, Kerry and Donegal. I would rather pick up the points we need in the next two games and play Donegal in particular with an experimental team. Wouldn't want them to be getting too familiar with us but on the other hand we might need to see where we stand.

Anyway heads up everyone. We managed a point yesterday even when playing crap. The two points would have been ideal but another two points and we are safe. I know we have what it takes to stay in the division it is just up to management to resolve the current problems and get over the line next week or the week after. We have McGeeney who knows this Kildare team and Donaghy who knows the Kerry team so have some knowledge of the opposition in the remaining fixtures

The test of our mettle lies ahead…. Mayo, Kerry and Donegal all serious games. If we were to get 3 points from those I would be delighted. 2 points not to very disappointed. But have to beat Kildare. A must win

I think this point has to be made on its own rather than within a post.

We are all guilty of getting carried away with our wins and they were very well deserved. However, Monaghan hasn't given us the crash back down to earth we have had to endure over the years but the result yesterday could have been more catastrophic for us than we think. Rather than hyping the team-up we should lower the expectations and welcome every win but at the same time be wary of the next game and not get carried away with each win. Undoubtedly it is great to win but we have done nothing to suggest we are a consistent team. I have no doubt the players and management come on here to see what is being said and we have to be careful about hyping the lads up as they will read the comments and like us fans they will buy into it and this isn't good for the team. McGeeney and management are telling them on the one hand that they still have a lot of work to do whereas we are in a way undermining that.

Monaghan are a team who have managed to stay in Div 1 for years. Being on a par with them would be progress for Armagh from previous times.
You have to admire Monaghan's determination and willingess to work for the team and we can learn from that. If the shared points means that both teams stay up then that wouldn't be any harm.

I do agree, but McGeeney and his team are in the game long enough to know not to get carried away. And they’ll relate that to the players too.

God help the squad if they’re hanging on every word us eejits are saying :D

On a serious note though (and I’m not just saying this in hindsight), but I had a feeling this Monaghan game wouldn’t be straightforward. We’ve done brilliantly in previous 2 games, but sometimes things don’t just work out on the day for various reasons: weather, bad luck, injuries etc. And like I said earlier, we know now we have still a lot to work on, and perfect. And that’s not a bad thing. There’s always more to learn.

Genuinely do not know what to make of Donegal overall as they haven't played a game in ideal conditions yet. Completely fluffed a goal chance.

Kerry straight to the top of league one with Armagh sitting in second place.

Donegal looked just as bad as we did yesterday so wouldn't read much into it. That being said we can learn a lot from Monaghan and Kerry when it comes to game management and the importance of composure and patience.

Kerry look physically fit and strong.
They have 3 clinker forwards but I don't think their defence is as strong. A team with a strong midfield will do well against them

Kerry's midfield are woeful. Their keeper kept hitting the same spot with his kick outs and they were losing so many of them.
Sean O'Sea is a class act.
I was thinking the same thing myself. I am not sure if it was because of the wind or if it was because that was their own kick-out strategy. And yes O'Shea is a class player and someone to keep an eye on - already has the experience for big games and is only 23/24

I fancy us against Mayo ... putting it on the record here to be rideculed next week
Mayo is a really weird team. They have a conveyor belt of talent that keeps churning out players year on year but they are a team that never declines but never progresses either. They are always good enough to beat everyone but at the same time never have any sort of invincibility about them. They are probably a team we should be aiming points from considering we were defeated by a point by them four years ago.
